I worked in a grocery store on Black Friday last year. It was boring as hell. No one goes shopping for food the day after Thanksgiving. NO ONE.

Wikipedia’s UK-centric article on hoodies shocks me. I love hoodies, but I’ve always been partial to clothing with a chav influence.

A customer asked for “DVD tapes” today, by which she meant VHS movies. We haven’t had those for quite some time.

Damn stock market.... A perfectly speculative stock I've been looking at (which had been on the upswing for about a week and spiked 68% last Friday) and finally put some money into this morning went down. Then again, just about everything else went down so I'm sure it will rebound again.... Ah well, it's technically not a loss until I sell at a loss, so I'll try and stay optimistic.

So the plan was for me to get a car this summer, my second year in college, like my brother did. Now it's probably not going to happen.

Thank you economy for falling at just the right time.

I keep wanting to mass invest stocks, I really should stop and get a financial advisor / stock broker and do it. I know if I don't I'll regret it.

I want to invest in Ford, Chrysler and GM. If they get out of their crap hole just think how much money I could make off this. :D

I dunno. While I don't expect Ford or GM to disappear, I think it may be awhile before they completely recover. I think they'll have to take a long hard look at their product lines and maybe even (gasp) try the whole innovation thing.

Ford stock, as well as TRW (a company that develops passive automotive safety devices and systems) were going up until today. Hell, TRW started the day out with some decent, though short-lived, gains. I bough some shares of Fannie Mae (FNM), which is sort of like fly-paper to speculators right now. Personally, I think it has a lot of upward potential and may yield some huge returns for people who buy now while it's dirt-cheap, but it's definitely a risky stock.

Speaking of cars and the economy, the low gas prices are creeping me out. I feel like the world’s about to end or something.

Indeed, it's rather scary how quickly the price dropped, but it does kinda prove the point that there was never really a shortage.

Yeah it is kinda scary. What makes it a piss off is that it shows how there was no reason for them to be high in first place. They're trying to blame it on demand being lower due to the economy but that's BS.

Just becomes the economy took a crap, it does not mean you don't need to use a car to go to work everyday anymore. People's routines are not suddenly going to change because some stocks fell.

Speaking of falling, wonder if this will crash my test server.

Code: Select all

MySQLConnector * con = new MySQLConnector("localhost","root","");
con->Connect();
con->SelectDB("testdb");

for(unsigned long int i=0;i<1000000000;i++)
{
	InsertQueryBuilder builder(con,"table");

	builder.AddField("f1","stuff");
	builder.AddField("f2",BitStream::Int2Str(i));

	builder.Submit();
}

It's executing right now.

Yes, that is generating 1000000000 table rows into a mysql database. It's at 1,109,660 and it's been a few minutes.
