Disappointment wrapped in optimism. I think my mom realized that lecturing would be redundant.Red Squirrel wrote: wow what happened?
I love my parents to death, but I’ll work Nashville’s corners before I move back to Lawrenceburg. (I’m in the ’Burg right now, actually.) My lease expires in August, at which point I’ll hopefully, finally move out of the state – Bangor, I’m thinking – and earn a sustainable income until I magically realize what I want to do with my life.

Just be sure to get a college diploma of some sort, just take an easier route. The "out of town" colleges tend to be way harder, just go to a local college and live with your parents, MUCH cheaper, and in the end you can get a half decent job then save up for a place to stay, rather then get out of college with bills.
But I know it can be retardely hard. I really don't get why they make it so hard, real work is not even 1/4 as hard as school. If it is, then its time for a new job.

You could always try a community college with some kind of genericsemi-practical major.
They're rather cheap comparatively, easy as carp, they are all over the bloody place and you still get a piece of paper that may not be as nice, but people still pay attention to.
That or a technical college. Either way you can still work a full-time job at the same time if you work it out right.
Still it's getting to the point that if you have the right certs and enough practical experience, you don't need the piece of paper.

Also if your not sure what you want to do, look at going into trades. Plumber, electrician, carpenter, painter etc... people may look down at those jobs as being "dumb" but thats not true, and they are needed and always will be needed.
Or even look at starting your own business. Vogel's Construction, or something. (ironicly we have a place here called Vogel's pharmacy lol)
Hey, thats it, you can sell drugs! The name is already out there.

Does your server use all that?!Red Squirrel wrote: Wow your laptop will have more ram then my server. LOL
Honestly, I probably shouldn’t have bought that second stick, because now I’m going to have to remove this 1 GiB one since Charlie only has two slots. I just like the thought of hitting the limit. (Silly, I know.)
But I did need something more, or at least a change of habit: I always have lots of applications opened, and they stay opened for weeks at a time. (Kernel updates not withstanding, why reboot when I can just suspend or hibernate?)
I was toying around with the idea of installing the RAM while Charlie’s in hibernation, but I’m afraid of what would happen. I’ll just shut her down. I’ll have to do it for Hardy (14 days!) anyway.

Actually right now my server is using 787MB/3.4GB and thats with a bunch of VMs running. I've been adding more production VMs lately, think I should probably turn the VM drive into a raid 1 since I'm kind of risking data at this point, putting more and more VMs into production.

I got a new bike, a cheap one in case it gets stolen again. I also bought two locks. I’m mobile again!

yeah two locks can work nice actually, one to lock front wheel (with fork bar included) and one for back wheel (with shaft and gear part included).
Gubs will probably laugh at me for my name convention for bike parts.
Its like when people call their computer a hard drive. NO, its NOT a hard drive!

Haha, I love it when they do that Red. Made going out on service calls worth it.
I did burst out laughing when I read "shaft" part though. My best guess would be that the shaft part is the chain stay length part of the frame?
Meh, I wouldn't even trust 5 locks on my bike. Because, any smart thief would take apart the bike. Getting nearly all of the parts except the rim, hub, and frame.. not to mention it only takes 5 minutes to disassemble a bike.
