Disagreeing with someone is not the same as disrespecting their opinion. It depends on the way in which it's said. Granted, at times it reaches into disrespect, but then you just have to consider the source. (I won't mention any names.) The forum would be a pretty boring place if we all agreed with each other. Every other post would be a bouncing fruit or something.

I don't think this thread has gotten that bad... I've seen a LOT worse.

I can only speak for myself and say that I've done my best to respect everyones right to believe what they will. However this is a place of discussion in which we choose to partake in (sometimes heated) debate. I'll admit that I haven't re-read this thread "word for word" but I don't think anyone gotten overly personal.

I'm pretty much through posting my thoughts on the whole slavery thing as I think I've made my points well enough for anyone to understand them who will take the time to read and give them a thought. I just wanted to pass on that I did not at any point intend to "dissrespect" anyone. :P that includes you Angel I felt your posted deserved reply.

I've seen worse mudslinging on other threads.

Carry on! :fruit:

i don't think you see my point because see American is a lot of people's homeland and bashing it in front of them and then getting into a big "disagreement" over it causes problems, some people are sensitive to this and to see it being bashed in front of youe eyes is not what "I" come here for.

Closing this topic would just anger people that want to discuss this.

Besides, with topics like this, you have to expect to see negative and positive responses. You cannot possibly expect everyone to like America and many people on this board are born in other countries and don't consider America their 'Homeland'.

...people bash Indiana in front of me all the time, and I've never gotten upset about it. Indiana deserves to bashed, because some of the sterotypes about it is true, and sometimes its government makes bad decisions, just like the U.S. government does. There's nothing wrong with being proud of where you live, but you have to be willing to step back and take a good objective look at it sometimes and be able to laugh at it occasionally, or speak out when you disagree with your government. Hence the freedom of protest. And of speech.

And, by the way, no one's bashing YOU. If we wanted to do that, we'd make a thread called, "Do you like Angel?"

there have been complaints about this thread and some of the demeanor within it.

i have just read every single post word for word, and while some of it is devoid of any actual provocative substance, i don't think there is anything wrong with the thread or the posts.

actually, i'm pretty surprised at how civil most of us have been. :)

on a personal note, i just have one comment:

it seems that some people mistake pride with arrogance, and there is a difference.

Well everyone hates Bush. But it's not like you actually elected him anyway. I'm sorry to say that he's a moron, I shold not say bad things like that, but he is.
Why not? We all think he's a moron :P
We don't ALL think he's a moron. I happen to support Bush.
Bush isn't a moron... he just can't structure sentences. Which in my opinion a leader of a super power should be able to do.
