This is something we are seriously thinking of bringing to aov. This is a large system and may not be available for quite a few months but once it's completely planned out, it will prove to be really beneficial to players and staff.
What is it?:
The community system is a way to bring the shard together. All players work to earn points for both individual rewards and shard rewards:
Shard Rewards: Players contribute points to a certain "Shard Reward". There will be numerous rewards that players can pick from that will benefit all players shard wide. This can be the introduction to a new monster, resource, system, item, you name it! Once enough points are collected, the reward is added to the game for all players to enjoy.
Individual Rewards: Individual rewards are given to one player only. A player can buy special items with the points they have gathered. They will be able to choose an item from a list. This can be anything from a bag of resources to a special set of magic glasses (Depending on points). Therefore those who contribute to helping the shard on a whole will get more points to use to buy special items.
Getting Points: There does not currently exist an actual system, but player can collect points in numerous ways:
-Sacrificing Power scrolls (points given based on the scroll). This will also help to get rid of 105's that people leave around banks or in trash cans.
-Sacrificing artifacts(Based on type). Also help get rid of items and such.
-Sacrificing shard birth items(Rare items that may no longer be available)
-Sacrificing rare resources/uncommon resources (Such as rare mining gems, peerless resources, etc).
-Event participation may earn players some points
-Alerting developers of bugs you encounter (If they prove to be valid. Will award the player points)
-Game referals. If you bring another player to age of valor, you can get points (Warning, this will be monitored on a closely guarded system to prevent dishonest players from trying to get free points. If we find out, you will be in hot water (SO DON'T DO IT! ))
-Helpful and nobel acts of compassion/kindness. This may or may not be added in but if we notice somebody helping out new players and teaching them things, we may decide to give points for that. I would not count on this option being implemented as its hard to trace and open to scamming unless a good system was worked out.
Other methods of receiving points may also be available in the future. Also, please note that bad/detrimental behavior may result in a point penalty. Hopefully it does not come down to this but if somebody is doing something illegal or unpleasant in the game such as actively gathering resources afk, acting out in an inappropriate manner, cheating, etc, they may have points taken away (That is, if they aren't banned first).
With this system, a lot of things can be improved:
-Encourage players to form as a community
-Give something for players to do in the game
-Remove stockpiled items that otherwise serve no use other than to increase item count
-Give players items to work for, even if they aren't strong enough to do peerless or other champions
-Encourage players to participate in events
-Add certain content for community involvement and interest
-Motivate players to bring new players to the game and to report bugs
Anyways, I would like to know what everyone thinks. Comments, thoughts, suggetions?

AOV Community System
It sounds fantastic. It has a bit of the old OSI trash bin system (the one where phoenix armor was a reward).
And the idea of bringing the shard together has a bit of a ring to it. From what I've seen in-game and on the forums, there is a bit of a rift between players. Of course, this is natural with anything that involves more than one person.
I've got plenty of items that I'd be willing to "sacrifice" for the benefit of the shard, so just let me know when and I'll sift through my stuff and deliver a bag.
Is this sort of the AoV twist on the OSI community collections like the 'Glow Zoo and Vesper Museum? Anyways, I like it. Mainly because this idea brings the same enthusiam for player interaction that OSI "strives" for, but brings it in the way AoV thinks it should be. (Which in my experience, is more accurate for the players).
My only request is....for one of the rewards (shard or individual), the prank lightning chair.

I myself thought of the old uo trash system where you sacrificed items to get prizes. This is kinda like bringing it back. Yes, this is also like the museum and library collections. We have discussed that it would take too much time and effort to put in the museum/zoo/library systems for little reward to the shard. Hence this system would be combining all three of them together into a custom version specifically for AOV players. Players would not lose out on the rewards as they will be included in the system.Nexus Graveheart wrote:It sounds fantastic. As for the lightning chair idea, I think that can be arranged *Big Grin*
