But really would they actually cancel school over that? It's only like 5 below freezing level lol. Think the time I've seen here where they cancel is like -50C (-58F) with windchill, and they only do it for the little kids, though if they cancel some schools they have to cancel all of them.

Down here they cancel school and stuff mainly because people do not know how to drive in snowice. The further south you go the worse it is.

Haha, yeah. I lived in Fairbanks, Alaska while I was going to Middle School and I don't remember school EVER being cancelled for weather while I lived there. In fact, I walked to school every day since I lived a little less than a mile from it. At -60, school becomes optional, but it never got that cold on a school day.
