This is a new ability that was missing from the deathwatch beetles. They can spit poison (Greater Poison) at ranged attackers (It is like this on osi). Those who have done the tokuno champ will also notice that sometimes kappas spill their corrosive acid liquid from their concave head bowls when they are damaged (This is also an osi thing). Both of these new attacks are not very powerful but add a varient to the gameplay. Also, deathwatch beetles that have been tamed keep their poison spitting ability.

Haha, AOV: more like OSI than Demise even though they don't really try to be...

We implement OSI things as best as possible. We research certain things from a variety of sources and if there are matches, then it's coded in. It may not work exactly like OSI and some things may work a bit differently, but it's better than just plain leaving it out.

Yeah, my point was that Demise supposedly wants to be as close to OSI as possible, yet other shards that do not are miles closer.

In demise's defense, the reason they don't have everything OSI like is they are so damn picky. They research everything to the core from exact damages, hues, techniques and timing. That's likely why it takes them so long to do something. Mind you, they also certainly take their time to fix obvious bugs that can easily be fixed in a few hours. We're not as picky with details and tbh, I don't think the players would care if it's not exactly 100% osi like as long as it's there and working within reason.

Yeah and with all that pickyness they still get things wrong. :P Have the noobs in gaunt would be spending the day at the healer if DFs were OSI like.

Yeah, the thing I just can't fathom is that by doing things this way they are further from OSI than they could be if they researched even 90% and estimated 10%. I really think they just couldn't really be bothered and work at it at their own super slow pace when they feel like it. The only reason I even log in there is to stop my houses from decaying. Even that's a waste of time really...

The best thing that made me laugh is when asayre did that spellweaving update by copy and pasting scripts that someone else did on runuo forums. The script was a nice base for spellweaving but needed lot of work. (same one I used here actually) It was ironic as I was actually working on fixing up stuff that was not working properly, then asayre released it saying "this is as fucking close to osi as it gets". I don't know about you, but I don't think on OSI it goes "this spell is disabled" when you use half the spells. :P

Ya, in taking so much time for them to implement, they're becomming behind in OSI updates. Think of how much stuff is continually being put in game. In their striving to be the closest thing to osi, they spend too much time trying to make everything perfect. Think of certain things they don't have such as the doom puzzle, mobiles casting necromancy, loot bumps, instanced corpses, and a wide amount of SE monsters missing special abilities (Also antlions which are around the AOS era that don't have abilities). I'm sure they have the knowledge to put those in, it's just they want 100% details before they even start it.
