As for the front page are you using IE? Since yes, IE does not support css to that extent. I'll have to redo it using tables but I have some other plans for the front page to make it more "portalized".

For the mark posts as read that never worked, it's the way IPB handles "new/old" posts now. Its based on how long they've been open and the last time you visited, or something like that.

I can't wait for things to calm down so I can spend more time on the site.

When I made the home page, I didn’t know as much about accessibility as I do now. The little technique to help blind readers is useless, my layout isn’t organised logically, I use pixel measurements in the wrong places, etc. Maybe it is best to redo it, although I would disagree about a table-based layout. Tables or not, it’ll surely be snazzier. I never could design.

I'd agree too, although with the extreme amount of content on the front page (ha!) I'm sure that it doesn't matter either way you do it, just as long as it looks nice and works.
