Slipstreaming SP3

Post by richardj »

:banghead:

I slipstreamed SP3, twice.

First I slipstreamed SPI to SP2 and added SP3.

next, I slipstreamed SP1 to SP3--different cds/projects.

neither worked worth a d##.

The SP1 to SP3 worked much better, but neither disk would recognize the already installed Windows--even after I ran them as an 'upgrade' install from my current Windows installation.

In other words, when I booted from the cd that I made, it ran directly to format the drive to install Windows. No option for recovery consol, no searching for installed systems.

I used NLight.

It's a total waste of time, as MS is offering full ISOs on their site of different XP SP3 ready to burn--yes the actual Windows XP Pro PLUS Sp3 already made into an ISO.

I finally downloaded a 597 MB Win XP SP3-N-I guess its suppose to be for a network rollout--works great.

I got my link from Deposit Files :HERE

:awesome:

But, even though, after re-re-reinstalling SP3, the latest one immediately went to Windows update & downloaded IE7--which I then instaled for the like 5th time--no site recognizes it as Internet Explorer.

Slipstreaming SP3

well atleast my installs of the sp 3 from major geeks never failed?

they did always look for the certified windows program code, when i installed them.

i never had to redown load ie 7, but i guess in doing that you atleast keep the bit rot from messing up your ie files.?

sorry you had all that trouble but this way others too can learn from your woe's.

Slipstreaming SP3

I'm not installing SP3 until it's considered stable. Even then I'll probably wait till next time I have to format, that way I'll install it before I install all my programs. Mind you I have not heard too many issues with SP3 compared to when SP2 tame out so chances are I'd be safe.
