okay got a win98 with an motherboard that has isa slots on it.
alright now stop that and get back in the chair.
i am wanting to update that motherboard. yes that is right its about time aye.
i got an old computer that was up at mom's it had win98se on it.
well we switched her computer with that other one i mentioned had all them errors in last august. and i brought this old one here.
its been sitting around since november when i got back home.
i just thought i'll put it in the new full tower case i just got. and take that old one out.
now stop that theres nothing wrong with having win98 on a isa slot mb. in a brand new full matrix tower case. now get back in that chair.
so i got high tastes and low money funds.
but i thought that should be simple just switch the boards.
so i did. then windows started loading the drivers for the old mb. and locked up when it got so far.
could not get it to open windows.? i wanted to upgrade that also but cant get in to install the proper drivers for the new mb.
so i took the new mb out again. put the old one back in. got it up and working again.
thought i'll copy the support cd to the hd and have all the drivers there.
so i did.
then i put the new mb back in the case. and tried to boot up so i can get it installed with out needing the cdrom drive.
but i can't get windows to boot it only goes in to save mode.? and i don't know what files to run to set up the new mb. and the cdrom wont over install win98se to it. and the add new hardware program does not work in safe mode.?
so i'm looking at it through the glass side panel. and see the red led lit up on the mb. and it hit me? why is the led all lit up?
i have no manual for the mb. but watching where i disconected the wires from the old case to put them on in this new case, was not hard. they are all marked.
so the wires are on the same place. and it boots in to safe mode?
so whats up with the red led on the mb.?
i don't remember seeing that on any mb i have in all these other computers.
so what can that be does anyone know?
and if it is not a problem then what is going on that keeps windows from loading and allowing me to load the new mb drivers
