CD won't recognize

Post by richardj »

I have 100 blank cd-r cds.

I installed Nero-which sucks- then I installed Rocxio & tried to burn to the cd with the winxp burning program. All these plus IO Buster say there is no recordable media in the player.

I put a DVD in & it burned just fine.

Could all these blank cds be shot?

Or is their something wrong with the cd/dvd burner?

Its always something :banghead:

Wow really odd. Try them in a different burner, possibly different machine (friends, etc) and see if it reconizes them. While I've never seen it, could be your burner is strictly for DVDs, but I've never heard of that. usually a DVD burner will also burn CDs.

No- because I've already, in the past, burned Cd's with it. I even went to their website and installed a firmware upgrade- doesn't help.

I guess I'll have to wait until I can buy some different blank CD & try that.

It's a Micro Advantage Super drive.

REAL SUPER

Also I have 2 DVD movie disks which came as a set & it won't read 1 of them but it used to.

When I open the movie disk in Windows it says it's blank-which it's not-unless this disk is also damaged.

Wow that sucks. But Nero doesn't suck. ROXIO sucks. It's SLOW. EW. ROXIO.

Anyways, if you have 100 shot disks, that really sucks.

Did anyone actually manage to successfully burn a CD with roxio before? I've never heard of it happening. Roxio easy coaster creator does exactly that: create coasters. :D

I wanted to put a zipped folder on the cd

With Nero it kept creating an ISO image which I didn't want plus all it showed was a virtual cd burner not mine. When I told it to find mine it said it can't.

Roxio shows my burner- easily sets up to burn my file -not an ISO image-and it tells me to put in a burnable disk-it still asks for the cd even after I put one in which indicates to me that the cds are no good.

Nero has me create an ISO image then you have to go back click on burn then it wants to create another ISO image & asks if you want to replace the original one.

One thing I can't figure out though is if I have a blank cd in the burner, Windows acts likes its trying to read it. The pc freezes & the HD light is in full blast-even during boot up-unless I take the cd out.

They are I/O Magic 48X CD-R cds

It is magical if they work.

They came in a 100 pack spindle.

Maybe I can use them as frisbies.

Kinda of sounds just like the same ones, sometimes its the silver coating they use
have a friend try ,taking bets you might get one every now and then that will burn with mistakes :banghead: .if you can send them back go for it just get a different brand for now . ;)

Well after going thru a half dozen disks---

It appears that my burner is not 'supported' by Nero-as I said Nero sucks.

But I got to try to burn to a CD wuth Roxio & all I kept geting was the following errors:

E80041898: Write Error - [03/0C/00]
E80041899: Write error - buffer underrun occurred - [06/C5/00]
E80041925: TrackWriter error - Command retry failed - [T7118]
E80004005: Unspecified error

I read that you can't have a burner as a master drive-which it is along with my cd-rom which is secondary.

I'll have to switch them & see.

What a crock----------- :banghead:
