Have you ever microwaved a CD?
Before you read this post thinking "I got to try that" have you ever done it?
If you vote no, I recomend you try it after it's pretty cool. Make sure you put it on something though, like an eraser or something. And only put it for like 1-2 seconds.

Yeah eraser is the first thing that came to mind when I was thinking of a small object to put it on. I was going to say an empty box of gravol since it was lying around and that's what I used last time I did it, but that would of been much more ackward.
Basically you don't want the CD flat on the m/w surface, and you'll know why if you try it. (it sort of leaves marks behind caused by the explosion )

I'd be half afraid to try that. Mostly because it isn't my microwave

Oh, just thought of something. Are the results any cooler for different layered cd's? Wonder if it'll look cooler on one of those double layered disks

Actually I have one of those, been wanting to find "the right time" (aka when parants are gone) to try it.
I also want to try two CDs facing each other. Or a double layered one sandwiched between two other CDs.... so many things to try.
or heck, a CD with droplets of water on it.

No you put the CD on the eraser,or any other object that won't cause anything in the microwave, since the CD will mark the bottom of the mw otherwise. I learned that the first time I tried it. you can clean it, but it's not that easy to take off.Mikwiththestick wrote: why put a eraser on it though?

Really all it does is do a huge SNAP sound and creates a peice of art. But don't do it a bunch of times in a row that's when it's bad for the microwave since the transmitter heats up, but just once for a few seconds you're fine. And by few seconds it's like MAX 3, I would not even go that far, 1 is usually enough to get the SNAP.
Probably not good to try it on a microwave that's on a generator either so no, how about we don't try it at camp.

Only 3 seconds? Screw that. I know we atleast put it on for 10! Hell, I wanted to watch the show! Then we played frisbee. Those things break easily.
I know someone who's little sister put a giant stack of cds in the microwave. Tip of advice, don't follow lead there.
