The app's called diskeeper. It's a more professional version to defrag your system. It's nice, very visual and it gives you statistics and has a nice analysis/cleaning. When you analyze, it will actually tell you the status and how much (Percentage wise) of your hard drive is fragmented. It's wayyyyy better than the windows default defrag. I actually did a defrag with windows and then did this one. You wouldn't imagine how much wasn't cleaned up.

Haha. wow beats the command line one I use.

But I never see mine, I have it set to do it overnight every week. I'd have to do a windows one to see how well my app works though, maybe it does not work too well and I don't know it.

When I first got my computer, I defragmented it weekly. Now it’s lucky to get it monthly.

Yeah I kept forgetting so decided I should just schedule it instead. Too bad the windows one can't be scheduled. It's really silly it can't since you'd think it would be something common to do in a domain environment, have all the company PCs defrag at a certain time.

I have 'made' a combo scandisk & lowlevel defrag program from text files.

No I'm not knowledgeable enough to have invented these-they are from a tech site.

This first post has the .txt file-edit it to reflect your drives.

The next post will have the .cmd file attached. Place both in a folder anywhere even your desktop & click the cmd file to run it.

This can be scheduled to run.

OK

Now that youv'e screwed those up heres 1 more

I changed this one to add the /F to the program or fix for checkdisk.

The first one will read the disk but not fix it.
I believe , though, if it finds it dirty, it will run on rebboot automatically.

Do not scedule this one, as it will just stall.

This one though will stop immediately for any drive thats in use.

First though it will ask you if you want to dismount the drive-the answer is N(enter)

It will ask if you want it to run on reboot.

You WILL enter Y(enter). The program will continue thru the defrag process.
