HAHAHAHA! Isn't that fuckin' true!

I swear in less than a month gas prices around here will be $3.00+ a gallon. In some places it's atleast $2.70.

Yeah today here it was suppost to go up to 1.30... 1.00 was considered allot, now 1.30! most of the signs can't support 3 digit numbers so they have to mod them temporary or drop the 1 which can be confusing. Oh and us it's per litre not galon so we are paying just as much, if more. Well 1.30 * 3.8 is 4.94 so that's almost 5 bucks a gallon. :o

Timmins Ontario. Basically the higher north you are the more expensive it is. You need gas to ship gas.

Yeah the answer is ALTERNATIVE ENERGY since it will get to a point where it will hurt the economy.

But the auto industry ain't listening, and if they are, the oil industry is stopping them. There's some advancements such as hybrid cars but it's not a solution, we need to completely lay off fosil fuels as a source of energy. I think the cleanest and most realistic is hydrogen, or simply pure electricity. You have a big VRLA battery that can easly be switched (a tray type battery that you would easly remove and it would automaticly click to the terminals, like a removable hard drive) and optionally the car would have a solar panel in addition to a charger that you plug in (could be the same plug in as when you plug your car in winter). The solar panel would charge the battery in daytime and/or power the car, and when the battery is dead and you can't wait till the solar panel charges it (of if it's night) you can just swap it with a spare.

I believe if worked on more the technology can be developed so a decent sized battery that is safe to carry and not too heavy could be made, and an electric engine that is efficient to be powered by it. But would people be willing to pay more? this would be rather pricy at first but I could see it dramaticly go even cheaper then curent cars if it were mainstream.

For it to really work and be as convinient as stoping by a gas station, it would have to be globolized so you can swap your battery at a station. So they'd charge your dead one and give you a charged one, and the ones they charge would eventualy go to other people once charged. The price would have to be highly regulated unlike gas. It could be flat rate or go by the condition of the battery.

I think if the goverment was willing they could come up and impliment something like this. There's a few flaws in the idea but it's something that could be worked on.

The biggest issue is standardizing the battery itself so it fits in all car "slots" and ownership of the actual batteries, since they'd always be swapped around and eventually wear down and get damaged. And they would maybe be a pollution risk as well but batteries can be recycled so that's an option.

I was thinking about what Clause (the business teacher) would think of the rising gas prices, and how it would affect the economy this morning :P. I drive my bike around for these reasons.

Tell me if Clause brings that up in a comparison with Enron Red :P. See, that's why I don't drive. Too expensive thank you. I'd rather save that money and buy a laptop. At least I'll get better mileage out of a laptop. :roflmao2:

I'm sure clause will also talk about how gas is affecting our balance of trades.
