The PSP Review

Post by Pyr-O-Rgasm »

It has been one week since I got my PSP, here is the promised review.

When I first got it home, I was really excited. I got it all charged up and turned it on. Wow, THAT looks promising!

I pop in the Spiderman 2 movie UMD and play it, too excited to keep my hands still. The UMB turns on and it gives me a THREE option menu. WTF? Three options? That's bullshit. I overlook it, though. I proceed to click Play Movie. A bunch of unskippable warnings and crap come on. Finally get to the movie and it's hard to see it. I thought maybe my eyes had to adjust. Nope, 30 minutes into the movie I have a headache and turn it off.

Ok, maybe I just won't watch movies on it, that one was free, anyways.

After that I pop in the demo disk and decide to check out what games are coming out. On the list are old washed out games like Ape Escape, Twisted Metal, WipeOut, and gay golf games. Ok, list is pretty much terrible, maybe they look good? Nope. They look as bad as the old ones. Well, damn. That sucks.

Next I scroll over to the music option to check out these free music videos on the disk. Sucky music, and yet again bad quality videos. The sound quality was DECENT at BEST.

So I spent 250 dollars on a downgraded MP3 player, poor quality DVD player, with PS1 and lower games.

Damn I feel dumb.

But but...Twister Metal wasn't good? :P I liked that series, it was the first PS game I ever had. It's also a good stress reliever sometimes :) .

I kept hearing about PSP having graphics like PS2. And here I was in the store listening to that and thinking, "yeah, PS2 graphics, 8-bit gameplay probably". You know, with Metal Gear Acid being some card based board game tactics thing, and I hear Amored Core is...something like that, I forget what my friend told me about it. And I can no longer go on bashing PSP anymore because I don't pay much attention to it.

When I posted this it was like a few minutes before leaving to my friend's house((who is an ex-Nintendo Fan-Boy who now has 117 dollars saved on the PSP)) and I was checking all my forums. I was alos hoping for an April Fool's joke. That's when I came here((I normally have pretty quick visits here because NO ONE is on at the same time, bummer)) for my last check before I left. I remember this site was probably waiting on the review more than anyone, and I quickly pulled that out. All done as I was going((explaining the shortness and probably repeating and stuff)). B)

Not for the PSP alone. It comes with sexy accessories. ;)

Yeah, and if you noticed, I talked greatly of it even after getting it. Not until April 1st did I say anything bad about it.

 *coughs and backs away slowly out of the room*

So is the PSP any good or what? :P I have no idea because I only know two people who got a DS and no one else I know even buys stuff like this anymore.

It's amazing. If you're planning on buying a portable DVD player or an MP3 player, go ahead and get this. I know someone who got a 700 dollar portable DVD player who said after seeing my PSP he'd prefer it over his portable DVD player.

It can play MPEG movies I think. I forgot, I'm pretty sure it's MPEG, though. And the storage space is as big as the memory stick you put in it. It comes with a 32MB, which isn't alot.

I posted the review. Shorter and less detailed than I wanted to. But oh well. I lost my USB cord so can't put anything else on my PSP.
