ok i got mozilla 1.8a but i cant find out how to manually install a new skin (bluezilla)
i tryed renaming it to modern.jar and replacing the origanal but then i get a 100% transluctent browser lol

i also want to change mozillas search to use g00gl3 instead of the regular google so how would i do that

im aslo wondering if its possible to use mozilla to grab mail from hotmail.com?

and lastly in about:config

network.http.max-connections
network.http.max-connections-per-server
network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

what is a "safe" value i can move these up to without putting to much stress on the server side of things but still get a lil speed boost in zilla

Why would you want to manually install a skin? Mozdev.org has BlueZilla for Mozilla 1.8a. :)

To use g00gl3, go to the Mycroft project at Mozdev.org. In the search box under the “Install search plugins” section (not the top of the page), search for “Google”. Under the section named “General”, g00gl3 will be the first one listed. Just click it. :) You could actually edit the Google search plugin already on your computer, but this seems easier.

Yes, you can use Mozilla Mail and third party software to get (but not send) e-mail from Hotmail. MrPostman is free and seems to do the job. If you scroll down towards the bottom of the MrPostman Wiki Home Page, you will see a list of related programs. I’ve never tried MrPostman or the related programs, so I can’t tell you my experiences. Web-Mail looks like a very good Thunderbird extension for accessing Hotmail and Yahoo, but it seems not to be ported to Mozilla Mail. :(

What speed is your connection? I’ve kept all the connection settings the same except pipelining. I enabled that. To be honest, I never noticed much of a speed difference when I modified the number of connections. I use dial-up, so maybe that’s why. You could play around with values and see what is fastest for you. :) You may want to read the “Firefox Tuning” topic at the MozillaZine Forums. It contains a lot of optimisation information. Don’t let the “Firefox” in the title fool you. Most if not all of it works for Mozilla as well. :)

Oh, Mozilla 1.8 Beta1 has been released. :)

I'm currently using the following:

network.http.max-connections 40
network.http.max-connections-per-server 16
network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server 16
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests 8

I've always used this (supposed to be 'power' settings) so can't really say what difference it makes. It's fast enough for me.
