1) There would often be power outages for no reason; you would need to call “hydro tech support” for them to go reboot the generator hooked up to the turbine.
2) Even though the turbines are controlled by water, somehow they would suddenly stop turning, and they would have to be manually pushed for them to keep turning.
3) Substations would get lot of buffer overflows, killing anyone around with large lightning bolts of extra electricity.
4) In XP power grid systems, there would be a substation at every corner of a city; it would be considered a “feature”.
5) Whenever they did a grid upgrade, you would need to change all your sockets, and all your appliances to use the correct new voltage and frequency. Also, all the wiring in the house would have to be changed to comply with new standards. After 10 upgrades, you would need a new house to handle the new stuff.
6) Only one person at a time could use electricity in a home, unless you paid more for a multi user license.
7) Instead of tripping a breaker when you caused a short circuit, the entire grid would lock up, causing problems to neighbors as well, until the illegal operation is “’ok’ed”.
8) For no reason whatsoever, the sine wave of the AC would randomly freeze at a certain point, messing up any appliances that require a constant sine wave, instead of a constant voltage.
9) The electricity would be “bundled” with sudden bursts of 1,000,000 volts. Removal of this feature would cause the entire grid to go down. You would need to reinstall your wiring.
10) Whenever you unplugged an appliance, you would be asked whether or not you are sure you want to do that.
11) Some people would start using Enron, and encouraging others to do so as well, since it would be a much better alternative, and be much more reliable.

LOL. I like number 6. I also enjoyed the scorcher of a burn on Enron and their products
