I'm aware that uploads are not working. It's from when the host messed up the servers. Things always get broken when that happends. It usually involves files that have to be rechmoded back to 777.. the downside of linux servers, chmod. real PIA, and not really a security feature.

It's just the thing of figuring out what has to be chmodded or fixed, could be something else too.

Hey, I thought CHMOD was a very good security feature in Linux. Controlling what users can do with files seems very nice...

not really, since a hacker can just chmod it as easly as the user can.

If you have access to the files, (ftp, php etc) you also have access to chmodding them just as easly.

For example if a hacker finds a place to upload a php script and run it, he can just chmod the index.htm through php then write to it and deface the website, so it's just an extra step for hackers to take to do stuff, but it does not stop them.

working now, turns out the upload folder was not chmodded to 777
