I'm running a ZoneAlarm firewall and it keeps telling me that my coputer is trying to connect to port 139 on a large number of other computers on my LAN. Is this normal network activity or something that I should be concerned about ?
The computer is running Windows XP and has the enable NetBios over IPX running.

I think it's normal, it's just poling for activity such as new shares, printers and such.

ye 139 is netbios port wich is now only used to communicate with older windows puters over a lan such as win95, 98 etc so I guess if u block that port or disable the netbios I dont think it'll do u any harm unless u are sharing stuff with other puters on yer lan that u know use older OS.
I could be totaly wrong tho

Nope you`re right. Soif you don`t use file and print share you are safe to disable netbios. It`s also used for other networking services but it`s pretty much mostly for file sharing.
