Hey, just joined and thought u ppl maybe could help me with my prob!
I think this prob started when my parents thought they for once would check out how the inet porn industry is! Yea I know it's farked hehe
But as u can imagine, as they dont know alot about puter, they probably clicked yes on alot of porn popups. Download this file? yes, yes, ok yes sounds good..etc etc. So the next day when I was gonna check my puter as I usualy do I see loads of dialer.exe files, we all know how some of em are kinda harmfull but I think I got some wierd thing now because every time I browse a website with cleared out cookies, inet temp and all that it works fine. But when I maybe go to that site later and it has updated my browser doesnt show that update. It's like something in my box caches all of the sites I visit. It's wierd stuff. So I have to hit the refresh button all the time if I want the website to be sent again and so I can see whats been updated.
I've installed and scanned my box with Ad-Aware, Spybot and Pest patrol and I've scanned with NaV several times and sure the apps found some small stuff, except NaV. And still I'm having this prob.
I've tried checking out various settings that might have been triggered somehow but no luck.
I havent found anything on the web yet about this prob so maybe some of u can help me or know the problem?
To sum up what I'm going on about: Everytime I browse a web site with IE6 it has "cached" the site somehow, so I need to hit the refresh button all the time to see the new updates. I specially notice this on forums because if I havent visited it in a couple of days it still looks like when I last visited it, like noone has posted or anything, but if I hit refresh I can see all the new posts and what not.
TIA
/ckin-

Hi ckin-...welcome to IceTeks.
It seems that dialer may have left some other unwanted files on your pc. I found some interesting info at this site.

well it wasnt actually named dialer.exe, I ment that there were a number of files similar to dialer.exe. As I said earlier, I have cleaned out all possible files that could have had anything to do with my parents pron treasure hunt and scanned many times since then with spybot, pest patrol and adaware and NaV. Checked in reg etc etc but still I cant find anything.
So that link that u found there doesnt help me with the special prob of "cached" web sites, thx though for looking that up on the dialer.exe
So any more clues on what might be causing this? heh

I hate to spout out the obvious, but have you checked your cached page settings? Tools-> Options - The settings buttons under "Temporary Internet Files" If under "Check for new versions of stored pages" the selected option is "never" well that could be your prob . Though if it's not you may want to try putting it on "everytime you visit a page" just to see what happens.
Otherwise I'm kinda stumped right now as to ehy that would happen, unless your isp is doing somethign funky [very unlikely, but possible]. I''ll keep it in mind though.
