Strange errors when copying files from cd to pc

Just a few days ago, i formatted my pc, and before that, i backed up all my stuff.
After i formatted and reinstalled XP, i started to put things from cd back to my computer (using my burner, since my Cd-Rom broke and not fixed yet)

And one of my CD contain 2 iso files. While i was copying, the procedure suddenly stopped and i received an error "Invalid Ms-Dos Function". So i was not able to copy one of the iso from the CD.

And i believe that errors occurs when the computer from copying the *.dat from the ISO file to the computer. (it's a game, not video).

So i tried to copy other *.dat files from CD to the computer, one of them is very small, like 50k. No problem copying.

Then i tried to copy a *.dat file of a VCD to the computer. Near the end, i got yet another error that i never seen before "Request could not be performed because of an I/O device"

I am sure it isn't the problem of my CDRW. After 1 day, my CD-Rom was fixed, and i went to the store and get it back, and the same errors occur.

Does anyone know what may cause these errors? COuld the files itself corrupted?

Hmm weird. Are you doing this in dos or in windows XP? Even if the files are corrupted, it will still copy, they just won't work in whatever program they are designed for, in this case, it's probably a Cd-ROM image. You would of been better off to burn those as images instead of putting them as files on the CD.

I have been searching over the internet, and no luck finding any answer. Acutally i just formatted again afteri got the errors, and it still occurs.

Then I think i must lose the files on the cd.....

Does it only do it to those iso files or anything else? Could be that the CD is damaged at the area of those files, which would cause read errors. And forgot to mention, welcome to the forum.

I just checked my cd, it does not have a scratch anywhere....
well, i'll get my old computer back from school a few day later, i'll try to copy the files to that computer and see if i get the same error..

Cannot copy AVSEQ02: Invalid MS-DOS function.
CAUSE: Windows NT 4.0 does not fully support the CD-i format.
STATUS:This behavior is by design.

Microsoft says it very simple, it doesn't support it!

You may try rebooting your computer with DOS or Win 95/98/ME and copy your VCD files to your hard-drive, then.
