I forget what the date is, but Red Hat will no longer be abailable for free, so download it here before it's too late!

http://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/linux/9/en/iso/i386/

Right now it says there's too many connections but I'm trying often!

Not planing to use it since I'm happy with 8.0, but I rather have the ISOs on my hard drive just in case. B)

So fedora is actually better? I figured it was just a trimmed down version of Red hat. Fedora will remain free right? If that's the case then I don't have to worry as much. I'll probably end up using red hat 8.0 for a long time anyway.

I haven't heard great things about fedora so far, but I'm thinking it will become jsut as goodetter than red hat with a little time. It is supposed to kinda be a testbed for redhat enterprise. Something to keep your eye on, but for know I'd say either stick with redhat 89 or look at mandrake until things settle in.

Mandaren, people say things about every distro out there. I saw a review on fedora by this chick that said she had huge problems with dependancies and installing software, when if anyone took notice, she never once tried to compile her own software, which is what linux does best. When you compile your own, you make the software custom fit to your machine. She didn't know what she was talking about.

Fedora is great... and red, it's just red hat being built by the community

did anyone know that a "fedora" is the same thing as the red hat icon? It's the same style hat ;)

Yep. I wonder if a fedora would look good on me.

i have all the RH9 iso's as well. if needed, i could fire up the ftp server and let you download it.
it's slow though, my uploads are capped at 109kbps, like 11KBps

That's fine, thanks though! I decided futurewise I'll just go with mandrake anyway, and at least there's fedora which might get better with time, but I think I'll stick with rh 8 for a while anyway. At lest till I feel more confortable with linux so jumping to a different distro won't feel as different if I know most of the commands and such.

yeah, being a distro whore isn't good, since they are all the same really.. Just learn yours inside out and you'll be good.
