new cybervillage feature: Lottery!

Post by Red Squirrel »

The excusive IceTeks Cybervillage real time lottery can be a real excitement!!! Win BIG BIG BIG!!! Only 100ICs per ticket, and you get to know right away if you win!

It's very simple, just enter a number, and click buy, 100ICs will be transferred from your wallet to the lottery's, a random number will be generated and right away you will know if you win. (if the numbers match).
If you win, you get all of the lottery's money! That's right! Everything! This includes the money from the tickets everyone else bought!

Nifty! I noticed the winning number doesn't really jump around too much though. Still haven't won it yet :P but every time I try the number seems to be between 605-620. It that a bug, or is it by design - to make the odds a little easier?

It's done on purpose. But I was trying a lot and I never won at all! I came so close though, I was 1 number off!!! So it's still pretty hard. It will works on averages based on other's guesses, but it also adds in a random number to the calculation so even if you keep entering 500 it won't just average out to 500. This is kind of like gambling since you can easly take a loan if you don't have money and keep hoping to win. :biglaugh:

I also screwed up on the igloo pictures, I'll redo them tomorow. I lost the psd's for the originals so I could not make one the same.

Wow at least I know it's possible to win now! :P

I'll have to check that. Did you get the money though? I think everything is fine. I just forgot to impliment the auto delete of the database entries.

And I think instead of deleting it when someone wins, I'll make it delete when there's like 100 entries, that way it will make it a bit harder to win. I seriously did not think someone would win today! :roflmao2:

Yep!

Now I made it a bit harder by making it 0-5000 but it's a 15 million dollar jack pot

I made it so it deletes all records after someone wins, so we'll see if it works or not. It should...

Yeah, I don't think things based on opinion should be on there even if most of the forum agrees...

You must of got hit with that RIAA question. There's one that asks if they suck, and if you put no you loose a lot. :biglaugh:

Maybe it's a little harsh though, I'll put the number a bit lower.

I'm at school now so I can't do much, but I'll do it once I get home.

So tak, you won the 15M and still got the error? That's weird. I'll have to reput the select_db function in the win code, but I should not have to put it twice.

Yes and no. There's an account for all member IDs including 0 which is guests. But I usually make sure it's low enough so guests can't do much. I might even disable guest cybervillage functions completly just to encourage registrations. I'll make it so they can see it, but not actually use the features.

Ok, try it again. It should be a bit harder to win now. Hope so since it's a big jack pot now!!

By the way fishy, I never actually figured someone would get hit with that question so I changed it, and I got rid of the negative in your account and took out a few digits so you're at a decent ammount. I usually don't alter the database like this but I felt sort of bad. Figured you'd never pay that dept any time soon. I did not even check but I had like a 11 digit number in there or something lol

Weird... that's not right. Thanks for letting me know, I'll see what's up with the script. Maybe there's a bad entry in the database or something.

Ok now numbers should stay in range. I forgot to make it so that if the user enters a number smaller then 0, that it rounds it off to 0. I did it for if the user enters a number bigger then 5000 but forgot 0. Still don't see why it did that as there was no negative values in the database but mine when testing after your post. But just to be safe I made it so that if the win number is out of range, it will just randomly pick a number without no fancy math average stuff to be sure it's not out of range. (I doubt the rand() function is what made the mistake).

I'll see if anyone wins fast again and if it takes more tries, I'll keep it coded how it is. The number jumps around a bit more now so you can't just put the same number over and over. :P

I have no idea what to do with all this money. Most likely, I'll give a lot of it away. :P

lol yeah you had quite a lot. I assume you just put it in the bank.

I need to make an option to rob the bank. Really not sure how that would work though. Maybe some kind of game with php or something. Maybe even a flash game. But I don't really know much flash programming, but if I would learn, it would be something cool to know though. B)

what happened was, i couldn't get more than 70% on that quiz, so i kept redoing it over and over, i tried every combo and still couldn't get more than 70% right (bug?)
then i saw my ice cubes!!!

hmm I'll check on the 70% thing... I know the way I did it was that when you create the quiz you have to put in the answer, but it's case sensitive so there might be places where it's not typed right. I'll check it in the database and see. This feature still uses a file based database and will stay that way though.
