Who would you vote for as mayor?
With the municipal elections going here in Timmins, figured it would be interesting to have a poll on who you would vote for even though most of you live outside of Timmins.
Vic Power (retired last election and now going back)
Or
Jamie Lim (current mayor)
I'm one year too young to vote, but I'd definatly go for Power.
(I hope there's no Lim fans here )

Lim because she just looks like the better of the two. (Power looks dumb.) Plus, she's a woman. Of course, I would look deeper if I were a citizen of Timmins.
But the yellow? Honestly, that yellow is ugly.... And the French? Could she have put the French on a different page? I was reading English, and then I suddenly run into this not-so-English stuff. It messes me up. I can read English, I can read a bit of French, but I have a hard time reading Frenglish!

My vote goes to Power, simply because Lim has a horrendously ugly website

I didn't read all the info for either candidate but I figure Mr Power has more experience.

after reading all i could about both candidates, powers is far and above the best choice.
she spent 2.5 million on plans for a new police station that you don't need, instead of water purification that is needed and required by law.
she's run the city into debt, and she's in deep with special interest.
sounds to me like she is a major problem. axe her butt.

That may have given Mr Power the incentive to come out of retirement.

That's exactly why he's running for mayor again.Wren wrote: That may have given Mr Power the incentive to come out of retirement.
It's actually quite interesting how this poll is going, as it's pretty much the same way here in Timmins and the same opinions.

Go to the above website before you make decisions. Power lost us Science North, The Northern Hockey Hall of Fame, drove out the RCMP and raised taxes by 54% while he was mayor. He has big money behind him which are the businessmen in this community who lost the ability to dictate what happens with the city when Mrs. Lim became mayor and now they are pissed. You can have the city run by someone who has been honest and opened up our city's books to the public or run by a man who is no more than a puppet to big money and will do what he is told.
Power has done a lot to hurt this community and lost us millions of dollars in revenue.
Just read the articles at the above site before you decide. The fellow who wrote the site is a former reporter who covered city hall for 17 years.
Oh and as to the website. I'm the designer. I was told to use yellow and black because (if you look around the city) her signs and campaign colors are yellow and black. As for the french this in Timmins almost half of the population is french and a large part of the other half can speak french. Remember even though a designer may want to do things a certain way they follow what they are told if they want to get paid.

drivel. the man should work for pResident bush he's got so much spin.
he obviously has personal issues with mr power.
hockey hall of fame?? oh yeah, that'll draw lots of peeps. not.
the canadian federal government is secretly asking ms lim for advice on trade issues??? thats rich.
ms lim and mr power may each have their strong points and weak points,
but mr Kevin Vincent is full of you know what.
based on what i know so far i'd still vote for power.

The website wouldn't influence my vote.
I don't care to be told where to go and what to read before making a decision. There's always the option of doing your own research on any matter.
