Yes, long live the alternatives!

All these security problems, the lacking CSS support, the lack of tabs, pop-up blocking, etc..... IE is terrible!

I can't believe it once was hard for me to decide between Mozilla and IE.

but what jack butt would put a new game on line
with the codes in the first place
i could see a demo without code
talk about an open invite to steal.
but of course it easier to blame

Interesting but not necessarily a programmers fault. It is impossible to code software that has no bugs in it. There are too many variables to consider such as the large variety of hardware to be compatible with, then combinations etc.

Here's a thought... If MAC OS X was the most popular OS in the world would they be having the same problem??

Hackers would target the most frequently used OS regardless of what it was. I remember a time when UNIX was getting hacked into all the time. Windows just happens to be the most used OS in the world at the moment.

Not that I'm defending Microsoft, I just think people expect too much in the first place.

The popularity of Windows and IE has something to do with it, but their design does too. Windows and IE are simply insecure by design.

I'll agree to that. but think of it this way... if MS were open source, their software's bug and exploits would be found sooner and people wouldn't use them to exploit as much, just to patch. People use 0 day exploits against linux *bsd and what not to be malicious, but when doing the right thing, the OS get's patched and is stable. M$ want's to maximize profits and people do not like that, so if they never relase their source code for IE, it's only going to get worse.

Something just dawned on me... imagine the code for just IE being relased... I think it would become the best browser ever since all the patches would be closed up *hopefully* and it would integrate the features found in MOZ and Opera.

That's true. Since IE is not that bad of a browser, it just lacks alot of security and standarlization. If those two factors could be fixed, it would be a good browser, then wth addition of mozilla and opera features it could be even better. A feature in mozilla I can't go without now is the ability to use tabbing just by using the middle mouse button, and the fact that I can make it open in the background. Sometimes I need to open many pages at once so it makes a tab, but opens in the background so I can keep clicking more links and don't have to reopen the tab I was in, I really like that.

I know! I am so attached to that feature! At school, we have to use IE (IE 4

), and I constantly find myself middle-clicking!

IE just seems too incorporated with the OS. Even if the security flaws were fixed, I still wouldn't use it. I greatly prefer the Gecko rendering engine. It's fast and it's got great support for Web standards and even some IE stuff. (MARQUEE!
