The drive is probably fried or something. Had similar things happen to me before. I had one catch on fire once. :o

B)

lets see from what your saying i can think that the computer is set up with windows 95 or windows 3.1 that is updated to windows 95. or maybe even taken a step too far and tried to set up windows 98 on it.

but if there is only 45 mbs of ram then it has to be an old 486 , 35 to 50 hrz cpu.

and the ram is at the max limit now. i would just take that hard drive which is more then likely a small 222mb hard drive and put it in a computer with windows98se on it.

then you can check out the hard drive that way it will tell you if you have a bad one or if it is too small for windows 98. on it.

if it says too small then you know it is good but too small for windows 98.

if it says bad then you can take it out and drill a hole through it and make a lamp out of it. :D

but if your compouter you got from your uncle is in deed that old of one you are only going to beable to run the old programs on it not anything for windows98 or newer.

it is best to use that type of computer with linux on for a firewall for your newer computer or just keep it running with the one hard drive on and leave the old games on it untill it no longer works then you have a door stop. :D
