OSI's Garunteed Artifact Publish
A while back OSI granted a publish that changed the doom artifact system.
Players were complaining that percentiles were too small in order to get artifacts and the idea of a ranom 1% chance was too low and not worth going.
So OSI changed doom and made the arty chance go by the more monsters you kill the more the percent gradually gains making it to where eventually you will recive an artifact. I think its like the tokuno system they said but im not sure if its the same.
So i think maybe this would be an idea we could use for the shard because only a few people go to doom at a time and it would be a cool way to get more people involved because they wont think they will be going for nothing.. eventually they will get an artifact.
And the osi system actually did work because a week of fighting in doom i got a Spirit of the Totem on my tamer than i went with my warrior the next day who i had fought with about the same amount and got a ring of the vile

Yeah for sure. Since here multiple people can get an artifact off the same kill, I can lower DF chance to what it used to be but impliment that as well. I'm assuming theres a max at some point, like 25% chance max, but I'll see when I code it.

id make it like 10 percent max and maybe have it start at 0 and go up by .10 per kill?

wow this is going to make me be in doom everyday maybe like 20% is more reasonable cuz it will reset to 0 ... up to the staff u guys decide ill be happy either way =]

Huh, I can not say it's a low chance after I got 1 arty per round thanks to the bumped chance of DFs, they are still easy with necromancy if you do stuff right.
Just look at the reports, theres over 100 (if not 200) gaunt arties out. (I for example, I have over 20 just lying at my chests).
To get my point right, heres the thing: 4,5% chance (DF's actual chance) is already VERY high if you do the math. So if you intend to implement something like that, I'd say either make the bonus per boss very low, or cap the chance at something like 5%.

but not everyone has time to do it all day and this will eventually lead you to a garunteed arty if you just log in every once in a while and kill a few monsters..
i for one when the yoshis wernt nerfred went 10 rounds in a row for a few hours and got nothing thats when i stopped going to doom and i had a very high chance on df but its like the other monsters were bs cuz i only had about a 1% chance this makes it fun and worth fighting everything

Tbh I only stayed in gaunt one hour per day maxs, because its so goddamn boring. Everything is too easy.

well right now no one is selling or trading arties for the most part ive been asking for weeks for a jackals and no ones had it so im trying to incoporate other ideas into the shard to make things like that work

here is an idea... more arties = more built up characters = more fun. Take a look at diablo 2, it is an old game but it has a high replay value because people can try out new types of characters. It is the same with UO. I rarely play my most powerful guy. Lets get more powerful items out there so more people have fun with the server. Its not like we have 100s of constant players, so the economy is f'ed anyways. It takes a big constant playing population to make an economy.
Lets focus on getting more new players into the server so it is more fun for everyone. I honestly cannot pk anyone without feeling bad because I know pretty much everyone. After the other night I thought of a lot of things to do different to kill Nosferatu, but if I found him at a champ or Harry, I would probably feel bad if I tried to mess that up.

ml will also add more artifacts, and I'll most likely try to throw in some customs in there too. Also this new AI I'm working on will totally change PVM in a lot of ways. I'm making it as smart as I can, and mobs will be more challenging, even regulars. It will also make existing mobs use more abilities,such as bushido, chiv and ninjitsu.

Hmm, it's gonna suck when a high-end mob casts Enemy of One on you and blasts you with a consecrated weapon while using Counter-Attack and/or Confidence. Although, at least I will feel more pride when I kill something.
Only problem I could see with this is it would give newer players a much harder time to get going. Of course, this could also force vets to spend more time helping out the newer players (something this shard, thankfully, does not lack).

yeah no, there shouldn't be a max if you're doing this.
Because I get a high chance on DF with my 1500 luck suit as well, and still rarely get anything, so what would be the difference.

one thing tho, as you mentioned the ai improvement, and you said that monsters will be harder, even regular ones. If you do this, how about boost the loot too to make it worth the efford it takes to kill something.
i also hope that champs wont be made too hard, cause PS arent that expensive here, and no i doubt they'd raise in price a lot.

Existing mobs probably wont see a huge difference. For example dragons have 0 chiv, bushido, etc so this AI will not make the mob use skills in which it has 0 in. The idea is that I can apply this AI to nearly any mob, set the skills and it uses them. So ninjas will use KI, smoke bombs, etc.
Currently I can't seem to make the AI aggressive enough in terms of spells but my goal is to have it cast nearly like it was a pvp mage, but without the spam and MA loops.
And loot does need a global bump, I'll be recoding the loot generating system since the curent one is confusing and does not even follow the intensity ranges I specify.
