A Spam Virus?

Post by Carpet Rodent »

I found this rather interesting article on the BBC website! Is such a thing possible?

Is there any news on how to detect and get rid of it as well?

Scary! And it sure is possible. All it needs is to have it's own smtp server, but a good firewall will alert you though, that it's there, but no firewall and you won't even know!

Back when I had my server, and my mail server, it got hijacked to a point where I was getting a DoS. 300 porn emails were being sent all over - at the time I checked, so I estimate a total of thousands. It was on for quite a while, and was most likely sending about 10 emails per second!

By the way I moved this to a more appropriate forum. ;)
