Redesigning Site, Need Help With Graphics

Post by wldkos »

ALright, I have been looking at other sites such as http://twistedmods.com and I want to make my tables look like theirs. I have some small idea of how they are made, but then again, I don't know how they have the table cells with roll-over-images. I would prefer to go the non-java way since I do not know it, nor care to learn right now.

any suggestions on the graphics and maybe more idea's?

Not sure about the roll over since I did not see any, but for the cells, the way it works is that you have a main table with no cellpadding, and the background color is what you want the border to be, than you have a table in it with a cellpadding of 1 (border width) and you make sure there's no border set so it's "transparant" and the cells need to have a different background. This gives it the affect of a border that is the same size all over, since when you just add a normal border, it will be thicker between cells since there's two borders beside each other.
I hope this helps. ;)

OHHH, i get it now. I was reading their code alot last night and couldn't figure it out. And xtreme tech has rollover images in their tables. I think I have to use CSS for that, and I need a good refresher in that language.

Yeah they have rollover, not sure how it's done, I think it's CSS like you said, but it might be java as well. I tend to stay away from java as much as I can. I find it messy sometimes. :)

You'll have to get the mod and it has instructions on where to add the code and stuff. The one I use did not work (I had to remove most of the features) but if you get the same one as AF you can have smilies and all. There's also a bunch of smaller ones, but they end up way at the bottom, this and the one at AF is the best ones.

 B)

i like javascript but it is hard to figure out i just am not able to do a lot with it. i can change some of the free codes to do what i want to do.
but i am not any good at making my own yet. but there are free lessons on the net. so will try maybe some time.

i tend not to get too fancy with the web site as it might turn off more visitors then the ones that like fancy stuff.
:(
