i got the old win me computer back up and running.

it was not the video card as i was told it was, but like i said in another post somewhere?? it was the motherboard. well got the new case the new mb and the new cpu the other day and spent all day yesturday stripping the old computer :)

but i put it all in the new case and plug it in and hit power switch.

it still did the same thing as it was doing in the old case. :banghead: :banghead:

so after alot of that i figured out it must be either acrossed fan wire which i had to splice in or the fact it had to update all the drivers for the mb and the new video card and the cdrw.

so i took the new vid card out. unpluged the new cdrw. and put the old orginal ati rage pro 3 vid card back in the system.

it booted. so i installed the drivers for the mb.

rebooted and did the cdrw, rebooted then did the new ati radeon 8500 card, rebooted did the windows updates rebooted did the other software updates, and shut it down.

:biglaugh:

but then i found myself rebooting a couple more times.

then i heard the car next door start up and i relized i was dreaming about the last couple reboots :biglaugh: :banghead: :banghead: :biglaugh:

but now it is up and working again. boy howdy can that ati handle the graphics :biglaugh:

i turned them all on to the highest quality possible on the games and it looks great and the games dont get any slow down from it.

ok so your wondering what are the case and mb.

the case is a full tower (love the room in it) Matrix case by Chieftex.

the mother board is a ak32a via kt266a v2.1

the processor is amd althon xp 1700+ and there is 256mb sdram

which is the old ram i had before, :biglaugh: i did not want to buy new ram and that is why i got this mother board it supports the use of sdram and ddram, you can use either one.

other then the above it is still the same old winMe computer. B)

but greatly improved dont you think? :awesome:

Why don't you go to PC Pitstop and do a test, then post a link to your test score so we can see what you got. ;)

It's a site where you can test your pc. Gives a lot of info on your system and you can get a link to your score if you want others to see what you have. Good for troubleshooting and just general info. There is a forum also if you need help with anything. Just go to PC Pitstop, sign up and read the instructions, great place.

On your test result, it will show your IP, but that is only visible to you. When you send a link for the results the IP is hidden.

Give it a go, I think you will like it. ;)

I've been a member there for a long time. Being a complete novice, I went there and ask for help. They walked me through each step on changing my OS from ME to XP. I gained a lot of knowledge from that site and I go there everyday, mostly to read and learn. Their help forum is one of the best you will find. You see, I decided if I was going to run a pc, there was some things I needed to learn to do on my own. Now, if a re-install is needed, I don't have to pay someone $90.00 to do it. :)
