If you have a LAN and want to easly be able to gain control of an other PC (or simply check out what your child on the other end is doing ) download this software.
It consist of a server and viewer. Install the server on the computer you want to be able to gain control, and the viewer on the ones you want to control from. It forces you to install the viewer no matter what, but you can choose if you want to install the server or not.
How this works is that you connect to the host/ip of the server, enter the password, and you gain full mouse and keyboard control (depends on settings).
The user on the other end can see the mouse move. Good for freaking friends out too!
For security and bandwidth purposes, it's best to install this on a lan so you can only connect to the PCs, and that it is not available to the outside world. This will also increse speed.
On my LAN it's almost as if I was at the other computer. I set it to full screen and can do anything from installing software to rebooting. (rebooting will obviously cut off your connection, but if you put it in the startup folder, you can reconnect without even having to go back).
I use it simply for when there's problems with the server (it's a local server with no internet, sorry martz ) and it goes well. I installed a server side include remotely, configured it, and then I tried it and no problems. Never had to actualy go at the computer!
Just thought I'd recomend this program to anyone. It's awsome! Very simple and easy to use. Downloading is a little tricky, you need to fill out a form like twice and it feel slike you're going in circles but it's not too bad. It's not like M$ or anything.
This can also be good to show friends accross the internet how to do something, or do it for them, but this is a security risk like anything else if left open. On a lan you can just put a nice easy password (kind of like we do at work for the DEX/newbridge system and other telecom stuff) but for full access, be careful!
