You know, for measurements, that wouldn't be a bad idea. It could automatically put in the other measurement in parentheses right beside the user's original measurement. It wouldn't change anything, but it would be handy...
That wouldn't work though... There are too many variables. Like American spelling, which uses "Meter" and "Liter" as opposed to "Metre" and "Litre". Also, a lot of people don't follow the rules (Yes, there are rules) when writting SI abbreviations. The converter would have a hard time figuring out what measurement we were talking about. On top of that, a British Pint and an American Pint are NOT the same, as opposed to SI units which are the same worldwide. I am sure that holds true with other things in US Standard/British Imperial.
As for a British English converter, I assume that perhaps it could work.... That is something I wouldn't want to see happen though. English is a creative language. If a person wants to use American English, it doesn't annoy me that much.
