Temporary Internet Files
For some reason I can't delete my temporary internet files. Never had this happen before. It's something I have been doing every-night before turning off the monitor. I always check to see if they are all gone but last night they would not delete. I'm running IE 6.0, XP Home.

Hmm wierd. Did you try manually deleting them?

I tried select all>delete. All I get is a plunk noise, like I did something wrong! I looked through them and the only thing there is the pics that it saves from avatars and sigs that you see on forums. Everything else is gone, seems like it may have deleted part of the files. Weird!

Just tried doing one at a time and Windows says I'm trying to run a system command!

huh? That is weird. Oh wait... is it that "are you sure" box thingy? I think I know what you are talking about. Just click yes and it should let you. It gets very ennoying though!

It gives a warning that running a system command may not be safe. I even tried the disk cleanup utility! Maybe I need to use the XP cd and have it check the files. Something is wrong somewhere.

Yeah, but don't worry about that message, it's not "unsafe" to delete those. Do they delete ok though?

When I got the system command warning, I didn't go any farther.

oh ok, don't worry about it. Just click yes. But just to be sure I know what you mean, post a screen shot... maybe this is something else...
"are you sure you want to format your C: drive?"

Pretty close

Just hit the Print Screen key (usually above insert and delete) and then paste it in any photo program. If you do alt+print screen it will only get the dialog, so you can do that.

I just don't understand why all of a sudden the files won't delete using the conventional method.

Glad to see it worked then. Maybe they were deleted but for some reason did not show up that way.

I've had stuff liek this happen to me every once in a while when I used to run XP Pro. A restart will fix it. My guess is it's jsut some random explorer (the shell, not ie) screw up, and once you reboot, explorer gets reloaded and everything is ok. XP still has a lot of bugs in it, and while it's a lot more stable than 9x, it's no where near as stable as 2k, that's why I reverted to 2k.

Yeah 2K is very solid. I have not cleaned installed since this Christmas! And I had only did it because of a virus - not a bug problem. With 98, I would have done it about 10 times at least by now! With my win98 computer, it was at a point where I had to do it every 2 weeks! Now that I play with AutoCAD and stuff like that, not sure how far that computer would go lol. Rendering a 5 minute movie took a good night or two lol.

I never had 2k, but went to XP from Millennium! That was a nightmare OS! There was one good thing about ME, it would defrag in less than 10 minutes.
