Problems Around The Site - Php Errors

Just to let you all know I am aware of the php problems around the site.

I think some of this php code I use is not compatible with Linux.
I figured php was portable on any platform but maybe not. This site is database driven and the database is files (quicker to program, and quicker to backup) but the file functions don't seem to work under Linux... I'm working on it now. I hope I can get them to work.

Also, all the smilies in past posts don't work and it's simply because they point to the old paths. If you click on edit and post (nothing to change) then it uses the right links. So if you all do that to your posts it will save me some time.

Ouch, the php problems seem more serious then just coding errors and bad paths. Some just refuse to work, I even made a small test scrict 4 lines long and still it won't work. I'm not sure what's going on. This might last longer then I figured. I have a feeling the server just does not support these php functions. If it's the case, we might need to switch host. Maybe a Windows host running Apache. I hope it's not the case though.

Ok, the problems sorted faded away.

sure it's a good thing, but I'm left confused of why they happened in the first place, and left with the though, "can it happen again, will it?". Let's hope for the best.

Now tell all your online friends about this forum so we can be very active and grow! This will be more then "another tech site", it will be the tech site with freedom of speech. (I don't know about you, but I have trouble finding those but there ARE some, don't get me wrong!)
