Speakers

Post by rovingcowboy »

hey red you remember i told you to throw out them cheap speaker that you had when i seen them on the other forum??

i been doing some thinking and some re thinking and some messin' with.

and this is what i have found out.

the new sound card i go and the new ones made since the end of last year or earlier have two sound out plugs.??

one for the front and one for the rear speakers in a suround sound system.

now me being broke all my life has made me into a tinkerer of sorts.
you may remember i said i had one tv set up to 2 cable boxes and 4 vcr's and 3 stereo units and a electric keybord and a dvd player. ( just call me what george jones calls us. " high tech red neck " )

but i now have this new sound card and it has surround sound.

but me with out a good speaker system? so what do i need i set down and figure it out

i have one subwoofer from a 90 us dollar speaker system it still works but the satatiltie flat tweeters were no good from day one. so i have to find some tweeters.??? umm i have a pair of speakers like i told you to throw out. cheap 20 dollar ones that are just mid range. so now i have sub woofer and midrange speakers just need the tweeters

then i remember that cheap 10 us dollar pair of extsion speakers for the portable cd player that are not amplified. they are just a pair of large tweeters bingo i am in business and all for less then the prices of a weeks worth of eat out diners :D

i put the sub woofer in the rear speaker jack on the sound blaster card. pluged in the cheap tweeters to the subwoofers plug for its satitlite spearkers. and that cheap pair of 20 dollar amplified midrange in to the jack for the front speakers on the sound card.

then set the sound card software to the large 4 speaker surround sound option.

turn up all the volume controls on all the different mixer locations i can find that open a mixer. and then the speaker volume.

cant tell the difference between this set up and a good 250 us dollar set of speakers.

so this goes to show just dont take me at my word on the first reply but safe it for later use. it just might come in handy some time. :D

oh of course i just remembered your spare parts post :D :D :awesome:
