lol yeah it's a mess in there. I once was conducting an experiment, no wait, I was installing Windows, on a 486 and it was closed for the night, I came back and there was a big cob web from the PSU to the my fan (that mean one I made) because the PC was tipped over and the fan was directed at the PSU... half way through the win98 install I realized there was no fan in the PSU, AFTER burning myself on the case lol. I was worse when I was a kid, that mess would be foil paper that looks innocent but is really a few AC phases of active current.

Well, all I have is memory and a mystery thing.

Kingston 256MB (2)

Kingston 64MB (1)

Samsung 64MB SDRAM (1)

Got a 4" square black thing that I don't have any idea what it is!

These were given to me and from the source, I don't think they were ever used. :)

I could take pics but didn't want to remove these from the anti static packaging. I had to handle them very carefully to read the numbers under a magnifier. Those Kingston 256 memory sticks are expensive. I think all this stuff came from IBM pcs.

that looks like a extra board of ram?? it is not what i was thinking though.

but there the 3 white slots that hold gray cables on it there. so it might be a card for doing a raid system. or for use with speical ibm stuff.

hey red, the first link seems to be a port for 2 more ide cables. Don't quote me on that, but it seems that if you run out of room on your mobo and ide cables, you might be able to plug that in and run another 2-5 ide hdd's.

That's just an idea though, i don't think that I am right.

fishy, my son works for a property management firm in the maintenance dept. A company folded and left a lot of things behind. After a time, the employees can take what they want. I tried to research it but could not find any info since I didn't know what to look for anyway. I have some RAM also. The module had never been out of the package. I opened it to get the pic. I'm glad to know what it is, maybe I should list it on ebay.

it would be worth it to try. give or take 300.00 should be wholesale on that module.
i wouldn't expect much if any more for it.
BTW it's a server module, not a workstation module. sorry for the misrepresentation.
to research it google these key words, "p/n MX6986A" AND "46126c"
without the quotes.

Thank you for the info. I found one on the net that was priced at 529.00 with one of those numbers. There is a barcode number too:
5015389018263

The package has a date, FEB00.

Trying to read through the ESD shield bag, don't want to handle it any more than I have to. :P

I got 3 486 cases here. :P Some have working parts and some don't work. I've playing around too much, I'd have to rebuild from scratch if I wanted a working one. :P
