Cdrom Mess

Post by rovingcowboy »

i am trying to find out what makes the computer not see the cdrw drive.
i have loaded in the drivers for the unit and the dvd unit but it still does not find them.

so i took out the cdrw and replaced it with a cdrom player.
wanted to see if it was the trouble or not.

and it was when i booted the computer it found the units even found the dvd so that means the cdrw was the trouble.

or was it.? i took the cdrw and put it into the old win98 computer and used it on a ide card. since i only had an open isa slot. ( but i did that with a cdrom player in another computer and it worked then.)

but on the cdrw even the win98 can not see it when booting up. or with plug and play.

how ever it does not cause the computer to not see the other cdrw and cdrplayers.

so is the cdrw shot or just might be fixable if it is.

the manuf.. is "warnes" i cant find a site for them or any drivers for it.

the cdrw came in a systmax winMe computer along with a toshiba Dvd player.

i been to systmax's site but still could not get the drivers for my unit. had to get them from drivers . com and it did not help.?

if anyone knows what the problem is let me know

Some more info would help

Are they both on the same IDE cable
If so is one set to master and one to slave.

If you do not see them in the bios boot screen
windows will not see them either.

What motherboard is it?
