Client crashes at Halloween area [Fixed on Jan 6, 2012]

Post by Blackadder »

Ok, first time this happened was on my Chiv/Archer/Bushido char...
Client crashed, logged back in and crashed again, this happened 3 times.
Let it cool down for a few mins and then managed to get back in...

Went back later with my Bard/mage...
Just killed a supreme lycan and bang...client crashed....
Logged back in 2 times and crashed both times instantly...

The only constant i can see with these 2 instances is the fact that someone came on screen with a brightly coloured pet.....
Flourescent yellow ones......

It cant be to do with spells as these 2 were different chars....

I have noticed the animations are a bit cookie....when provoked the lycans stand still and the damage numbers just appear above their heads....

Client crashes at Halloween area [Fixed on Jan 6, 2012]

Most new post ML mobiles (Many are used in the halloween event), have a blank frame in their animations, possibly due to a change in design for the animations. They usually disappear for a second during spawn and should be fine after. If this is a problem I can change them to pre-ml monster body values.

As for the client crashing, it may possibly have something to do with razor. I have noticed it being finicky with newer clients so we'll research to see what problems have been popping up.

It could very well be hues causing issues with crashes as I suspected that early on during the gauntlet crashes. We'll be testing out these possibilities.

If this problem continues tomorrow after a few changes I will be doing later today, I will change the monster body values where applicable and have them attack on target instead of auto attacking. This will help minimize deaths caused by client crashing.

Thanks for the information you have provided on this issue. It will be helpful in the future towards finding a solution.

Dont stress over the animations, i only mentioned it because i thought it was possibly something causing the problem....

Making the monsters not auto target will be to easy to farm them....
A few deaths here and there is no biggie :D
Not as if its hard to gather the gold for the insurance lol....

I made a newbie mistake tonight anyways...had a supreme lycan under control and then accepted a party invite.....killed the supreme and was doing crowd control when my new found party friend looted the good stuff...
Once bitten twice shy lol.....
Wont make that mistake again.....

If you want to later on today.....(Its 8am GMT here now, so say in 12 hours ) i should be on and will happily go to test centre, you make yourself a bright yellow pet/mount ( one was a polar bear and the other was a Cu Sidhe)
Both eye popping yellow....
See if you can crash me, at least that may rule the Hue out or in....

Have you guys tried completely reinstalling the client from scratch? I ended up having to do this and I have not crashed at all yet.

Yup.

I seem to run fine and then I will randomly crash from something 2-3 times in a row. After that I will be fine for a while until the next chain of crashes happen. Really a pain in the butt.

These periodic chain crashes seem to occur randomly at many different places. I have no yet been able to make any links between the places to try to determine if there is anything specifically doing it.

Played for about an hour at the halloween area with no problems, even had a couple of others there and a young player...
Then in comes a Lord on a sickly yellow charger and bang...client crash....enter game again and crash....
Had to leave the area.....

Hmmmmm the plot thickens. I'll test out a few things later tonight as I have a strong hunch on what information was provided and where the cause may lie.

Did you manage to find anything out Death?
Just an update, played the Halloween area for almost 2 hours without a problem tonight.....
Tryed all sorts to try and trip the client up, spammed Ebolt, had 6 lycans dancing with provoke and all discorded....ran around gathering monsters...
All that happened is a slight delay (lag) every now and then....

Then,
Lord something came in again with his yellow charger and bang...paused for about 8 seconds...came back..stuttered a bit and then just lagged....
So i left again.....

Still testing it out. Should hopefully have some success later tonight.

This issue was also related to the drag/drop bug which was fixed up on January 6, 2012.
