I find this thread/subject combination to be a disappointment, for the record.

Got it today. :D

Just assembled it, tomorrow I'll actually anchor it to the ground in it's proper location. My next goal is to convert my main server to rackmount, and get a decent 24 port gigabit switch. A managed one would be nice, but they arn't cheap so I'll probably go for non managed for now.

I drilled the holes yesterday, let the water/dust dry overnight, cleaned up today, and bolted it down. This thing aint moving. :o:

I started putting the SAN in just now, but I need some longer bolts for the front so I'll have to go to home depot and see if I can even find such bolts, don't know how specific they are to IT industry, or if it's a standard size.

I don't think I told anyone yet, but I bought out UO from EA, and will be hosting all OSI shards.

No, not really.

Top two enclosures have 400GB drives, the two bottom ones have 250GB drives.

Moved some stuff around tonight, such as the patch panel. The worse is done now. Any other changes require me to buy stuff, and I'm saving up for a TV now.

Added a firewall (on top).

I'm done for now, no more cash. :P Mind you most of the stuff I already had or got for free, but the rest of the stuff I want to do will cost money.

What kind of router are you using for this? Cisco 2800 series?

Nah got two Dlinks one for internal network, the other for external network (basically if an untrusted device just needs internet access). Nothing fancy. There's also a pfsense firewall which is the machine on top. Guess that could kinda be considered a router too.

I eventually want to get a 24port managed gigabit ethernet switch though and it would go on top as well.

Only a couple months, it was sitting at work ready to be thrown out and we were told to dispose of them and indirectly said we could take them home but that he assumes they are in the trash. So I got 4 units, my coworker got the other 4.
