Hey guys. I haven't been around in quite a while. For a number of reasons. Flighty wireless connection being the main reason. Frustrating when you're disconnected every 20 minutes while your adapter struggles (and fails) to find a connection strong enough to channel some internet for ya. However, I did discover this program Google Sketchup. I was trying to teach myself how to use it and decided I would use UO art to practice, so I picked the first house I ever owned back on OSI and started.
If you have comments on the program I used, sure, let them fly. I know there are many, likely more sophisticated ones out there, but I am poor.
A few notes:
- The "scale" is 2.5 ft. per tile. So this building (7x7 foundation) is 18 ft. x 18 ft. The height per floor is 10 ft, to account for people riding horses inside. And the total height is, I believe, 21.5 ft.
- Some of the details are left out, such as the "rope" texture to the top and bottom of the bottom floor and the very top of the building. I attempted to make it, and I got it right, but it was extremely time consuming and frustrating, so I opted to go for a rounded ledge. Perhaps in the future, if I can figure out a better way, I'll make it more pure.
- The texture is a white marble photograph. I tried to use the UO artwork for the texture, but it's so small that when you bring it into a full sized wall, the pixels become enormous and it looks like junk. I imagine that is how it would be for any UO texture.
- The floor isn't actually as dark as it appears in the photos, that's just something that happens depending on the angle that the "camera" is at when I take the snapshot. It is actually just as white as the walls. A good example would be the snapshots of the top floor.
- This is the original artwork. http://mythicmktg.fileburst.com/uo/uohe ... -shop.html I figured I would add it since depending on when you started playing UO, you may or may not even know about it's existence.

Any criticism is welcomed, but please take into consideration that my skill with this program is minimal.
And, I'm almost done with the Sandstone Patio, which is one of my favorites. I'll post photos of that one when I'm done. And hopefully, in the far future, I want to have a go at doing a custom house and possibly even doing a house with the deco included. But we'll see.
Red and Death, forgive me if I posted this in the wrong forum, move it to the correct one if I am wrong. However, it does, in a way, regard UO, so this seemed right to me.
