At higher levels, you are required to honor something of significant fame/karma. Try honoring daemon, succubus, balrons and ancient wyrms to see if you gain (You may need to honor and kill a few of these).

You should be able to gain in honor without needing bushido. In order to gain in perfection, however, you require at least 50 bushido.

Honor is the virtue which allows you to gain the special ability to walk peacefully amongst hostile creatures when invoked.

Perfection is the bonus that samurai get. Each time they make a successful hit, they go up a level and receive a damage increase and luck bonus for each step they go up. Missing your attack makes you go down 3 levels.

Honor is an interesting virtue to gain. The amount of honor you receive from killing an opponent, depends on numerous factors. The creature's fame level and how honorably you have fought your opponent are factors in determining how much you will gain.

If you are looking to gain honor, here are some important steps to follow:

Honorable combat is defined as:

* Allowing your opponent to damage you first.
* Engaging in one-on-one combat.
* Not using ranged weapons, unless you stay in the same spot where you honored your opponent, or you only damage your opponent while adjacent to them.
* Not allowing your pets or summoned creatures to help you during the battle.
* Avoiding the use of poison.

To engage an opponent in honorable combat, your opponent:

* Must be one that you can perform negative actions upon.
* Must be at full health.
* Must not already be honored by a nearby player.
* Must be close to you, in your line-of-sight, and have a clear path to you.

To check to see if you are gaining in honor, check your virtue gump in your paperdoll (it's at the top). Click on status and select the honor option. If you have any blue circles, you have gained in honor. If you are not gaining in honor, try sticking more closely to the rules of honorable combat. You may need to fight something more challenging than a kappa as well. Try creatures with higher fame, such as a lesser or greater hiryu or a ronin.

A few things you can check:

-Stay within a tile of the monster you've honored, kinda like you were meleeing it. See if you are able to gain in honor while close to it.

-Try honoring a daemon, as I know those give gains so if they don't give anything then there may be an issue with the whole gaining process.

-If you are able, use a melee weapon when honoring and see if you gain. I have a hunch that using a ranged weapon is resetting honor instead of reducing it.

It's also important to know that honor gains slowly. If you are honoring an opponent, you might be gaining in honor, but in small amounts so you may not receive a colored circle in your honor meter right away. You can try honoring daemons and killing 20 of them or so and then checking your meter to see if you've gained. Also, as mentioned earlier, honor criteria is a lot more strict for archery.
