Lumberjacking

Post by Trill »

I love playing on my carpenter making armor, but it is such a drag half the time always running out of bark fragments. The worst is that the trees respawn to a differant type of wood every time they are emptied out, why was this set like this?. there are certain types of wood i need more than others that i craft armor with but i cant get those types cause the trees spawn random wood. Also there are NO jumberjacking ps in the game wth! how come mining gets one and tailor's dont even need a skill just collect hides. Can u pls put in lumberjacking ps's and set the trees back to the way they are suppose to be have a chance every so many days of spawning a new type of wood.

Lumberjacking will be toned to OSI during the stage of the revamp where every skill is corrected. On OSI, lumberjacking is a lot quicker in that there is no delay for chops. This makes obtaining wood and fragments a lot quicker and easier. There are also quite a few more chops per tree than is currently available. Percents are off right now but once the statistical data is in, players will begin to see drops more suited towards the norm.

Lumberjacking will likely not get a powerscroll as it does not follow the standard for resource collecting skills. Mining HAD powerscrolls in the beginning before the drop was discontinued (reason being as it made no sense to obtain mining gloves AND it also had to mess up the values for mining bonuses).

That being said, resource skills will remain a max of 100 skill without the use of powerscrolls. Introducing gloves of lumberjacking is a possibility, but not so much a powerscroll.

The emptying out of veins prematurely is another thing that will be fixed as it is normally percent based (There is a chance the vein will change on empty). On AOV right now it's pretty much 100% which is incorrect, so you'll get to look forward to that fix when the time comes.

As for the whole tailoring/hides argument, unfortunately that's the belly of the beast as Ultima has favored leather and medeable armor in terms of how easy it is to obtain, craft and its overall benefits compared to every other armor type. Hopefully this changes someday but people have gotten so used to it now for the last 6+ years that even minor changes would be highly controversial.

sweet on osi its around 200 to 300 logs per tree on here you get 20 to 30 logs from a tree???? and thats if your lucky.

I mentioned the powerscrolls because it seems i have even failed when trying to mine normal trees that have no color logs in them you just seem to fail 60% of the time?

Easily 150+. Needless to say that the haul needs to be changed. Although you will no longer get 2 boards per 1 log, you'll get more logs per chop which ends up being equal or higher than what it is currently.

Difficulty of obtaining the resource will also be scaled accordingly. If you don't have the required skill to obtain a certain colored wood, you'll get regular. As for the resource, it'll be more like mining where as long as you actually find a tree with the resource, you'll have a decent chance of obtaining the colored resource instead of the regular.

Sure...we can all toss our leather tunics onto a field of fire in protest. AOV hopes to revive the armor system in the future as OSI is not bloody likely to fix it, seeing as it's already been 5 years since they botched it all up. If we do decide to go this route, it will only happen months after the content is good and running and it would have a long beta time line with a high player approval rating before it's made permanent. Most customs will have a beta period in the future before they make a permanent addition to the shard.

When the larger projects are complete and working as per design, then the new content will get added and everything else will be scaled according to OSI (cept for bugs and exploits). A few things may differ from an OSI shard such as items that defy logic (Example: crafting an item and ending up with a heavier weight than the original material. Another example of a magpie's feathers selling for more than 16 fish).
