Why does difficult within UO ALWAYS have to mean hits for 100 dmg and has 50k hp? Why can't difficult be smarter, have more skills, hit for waaaaay less, but have incredible armor where it requires a group? Why can't it spawn 4 lesser versions with 5k hp that do nothing but prevent the main target from dying, until they're dead? Why does "UO Difficult"
HAVE to mean more damage to the player?
This is because people will find ways to make it very easy and do shit load of damage. The only true way to make a boss actually hold up to itself is to crank the HP. Even then, I've heard of people doing like 200+ damage per hit in pvm.
And more damage to the player means more chance of dying. That's the whole point of a monster attacking someone, is to try and kill the person. Now, everyone has full 70 resists, so have to compensate for that.
Red, it's okay. It's okay to let good players find ways to kill stuff. Don't worry, the mobs you've taken the time to create will just respawn. It's funny, I've seen the UO transformation from player to admin enough times now, it is always the same. At first, everything is great. The new admin plays a lot and adds things into the game that are really fun. As time progresses, the admin plays less and codes more. The less they play, the more "detached" they get from the fun of the game. In the end, everything is about not messing the game up and making it too easy, not messing up the economy and making everything "right". You guys need to play more.
UO is just a game, games are played for fun. It's not fun trying to run after a lich while it's sprinting away spamming mini-heal non-stop. You can field PvP if you really find that fun
It's not fun to go up against a boss and just be insta-killed and have to run to res, only to go back there and get insta-killed again. It's not fun spending hours taking down a boss, only to look into the body and find all crap. It's also not fun having a boss chase you all over the place constantly raining spells on you while your pets are biting it in the ass for 30 minutes. Do you not wonder why certain areas of AoV are never even ventured in? Maybe because it's too hard and the potential rewards are either too small or their chance is too small. I don't know, I play to have fun. I'm not just complaining for the sake of it.
