"Quiver of Rage damage mods were changed. It now adds 20% of each damage type (Physical, Energy, Poison, Cold, and Fire.) The Direct Damage bonus was removed."
Don't blame us if that ends up going in though. Mind you, it's way too similar to quiver of elements now.
Spellbooks are now disarmable
Well it's about damn time they added that. I thought that was always odd.
The rest of the veteran rewards can be easily added in.

perhaps we can have a player poll on the addition of the disarmable spellbooks. Personally, my wrestlemage will be fine. But I know a lot of new players use wrestlemages in pvp and rely heavily on their books for fc/fcr and lrc.

I'd say allow it pretty much. A book is a weapon, like everything else, not to mention you can just re-arm it after awhile.DOCTOR THUNDER wrote:perhaps we can have a player poll on the addition of the disarmable spellbooks. I beg to differ on that. Show me a weapon that when disarmed, you loose 1/2 or even 1/3 casting. Or one where you loose 15 necro and 15 mage skill plus hpr. The fact is, players have a lot more to loose when a spellbook is disarmed.Seer Death wrote: I'd say allow it pretty much. You can make a masterpiece 1/2 weapon if you really wanted to (Not that it's easy mind you). Also, there are plenty of 1 FC weapons out there. Legacy of the Dread Lord in fact, has 3 fcr. If you're counting weapons with +10/+15 skills then you can consider the dryad bow. All of these can currently be disarmed.DOCTOR THUNDER wrote:I beg to differ on that. The way I see it, a mage will only lose out on bonuses such as FC/FCR slayer , lrc/lmc etc etc. A warrior will lose out on the whole weapon. Mages can still cast spells because the root of the spells still exists in their backpack. A warrior on the other hand, is completely vulnerable because they have no weapon to fight with (Unless they have a long distance magic skill such as necromancy/magery or have wrestling which is highly unlikely).
Therefore I think it's justified. Mages certainly don't lose out on more, I think it's rather even to be honest. That's my opinion anyways.

spellbooks already do 0 damage and do not have specials. It is the wrestling skill that gives the minimal dmg and stun/disarm.geezushhchrist wrote:how about this make spellbooks do 0 damage nondisarmable and no specials

I agree with making them disarmable. In fact I think we had even talked about doing that before. They are basically a weapon. They add stats that will help a mage. So if a mage can disarm its only fair that a mage can be disarmed too, and loose some stats (but unlike a dexxer, wont loose all fighting and possibly defense)

are you going to code in the requirement of tactics to use the special moves? Thats how OSI is, especially since there is a good chance of disarmable spellbooks. Might as well make it fair.

We've thought about it but it's a highly controversial change (Much of OSI's changes are). It would break quite a few templates and another change would need to be made in order to make sure mages wouldn't be a lot more vulnerable (Such as increasing mage spell damage up).DOCTOR THUNDER wrote:are you going to code in the requirement of tactics to use the special moves? No. Adding the 90 tactics requirement for specials damages templates and is just as much controversial as disarmable spellbooks. Most people use books because they give good bonus and help them complete their suits.Seer Death wrote:We've thought about it but it's a highly controversial change (Much of OSI's changes are). Compare:
A weapon can do damage by itself, do damage with hit spell, the user can swap bewteen weapons for various specials, a weapon can leech mana and stuff.
While with a book, a user is STUCK to TWO specials. They can't deal more than... 2? damage with wrestling. They can't leech mana with wrestling. Wrestling is a defensive skill that enables the user to use books in order to complete a suit. It does not ignores armor, it does not makes people bleed.
Ever wonder why no one uses Legacy of the Dread Lord for the mods? Because it's disarmable. If you make books disarmable, I can see every pvp wrestler mages giving the skill up for a melee skill because it will be just not worth it.

That's true, but in the book lies the power. A mage will equip a book for the properties. To a mage, their book is their weapon. A mage depends on their book just as much as a warrior depends on their blade
If this were not true, a mage would have no reason to equip their books.
IMO it's equal, but we can certainly run a poll if we decide to add that in but for now it's pretty much left my mind.
