I posted this because I've just spent the last 5 hours mining with 110 mining skill and have only gotten ONE pull off verite and ONE valorite. No agapite and everything else was dull/shadow/copper.

Waste of time in my opinion. I have a quest for 205 verite thats taken me a week to finish.

A good trick is to mine around until you find that vein, then hammer it with a gargoyle pick axe second you notice it. Get another player to help kill the elemental or use coal/conflag or a beetle. Actually, now that you bring it up, we should probably check the vein percentages and make sure they aren't lower than they are supposed to be.

THANK YOU! I do that but I'd have to farm garg axes for a bit. coal makes even para elems simple to kill, as long as you don't like fame :)

I use a legendary miner and the aggy, verite, and valorite veins are very few and very very far between.

Are you guys using elves or humans? Elves should have better chance, though it is something I've been wanting to look at further and see if it should be bumped. Think wood is about same idea.

So yea, I've been mining like a madmon and was interested in how mining worked here since I noticed the ore wasn't always in the same place. SEARCH FORUMS IS A GREAT TOOL ... ahem. Anyways, now that I know it's 8x8 random, that helps a shit ton and I'd say (and voted) keep as is. Good stuff.

It can be a nuissance sure, but from personal experience, I actually prefer it being random. Reason being is if you have a house in a nice, quiet area away from other miners, you aren't forced to go to another area to find better ore. Nothing like building a house near a nice mine and getting screwed over when you realize that the only ore in that mine is dull copper when you're after agapite. At least with the randomness, every mine has potential. The only reason to choose another mine would be for size, geographical location of preference and facet.

Yeah that's how it is. But once it's determined then it stays until it is mined out.

Fishing (well there's only one kind of resource so you wont notice) and lumberjacking is the same way.

There is also an in game flag I can set that makes ANY surface harvestable. Was used for debugging a while back. (green acres mass lumberjacking FTW)
