Just wondering is there any reason why no one is really interested in player vendors?
There are so many artifacts and other items on this shard that could be put on them, yet I see hardly any. Resources such as regs, mage scrolls (recalls specially), spellweaving books etc are all things which I think would sell well.
I often get newbies mention there is not a lot of this stuff to be found.
So wonder if theres anything I could do to enhance the player vendor system to encourage people to sell stuff.

make gold worth something. most of us vets have about a millenia worth of insurance money. It is more worthwhile for us to do champs, gauntlet, or hunt aoas than put stuff for sale.

thanks Death, and another point is: when a player stocks his vendor and sets it up... RS accidentally deletes it and never returns the Baracoons Hat, 140 Luck Kryss, or most importatly the irreplacable 6 mod tunic that the vendor was wearing.
Just another reason why some people do not set up serious player vendors in valor.

On a side note, what kind of items would be worth spending mass sums of gold on?

If you did that, what would the point in selling them on vendors?Seer Death wrote:On a side note, what kind of items would be worth spending mass sums of gold on?

To get gold to buy different things. More like specialty vendors who sell special items that can't be sold on player vendors.sliptongue69 wrote:If you did that, what would the point in selling them on vendors?Seer Death wrote:On a side note, what kind of items would be worth spending mass sums of gold on?

depends on what mass sums mean... to me mass sums would be 1 mil checks, to Altar mass sums would be, well, a lot more. A mass sum should be the total gold worth of about a week of semi-serious gaming. To some its 100k, to some its a mil, and to some its 10 mil.
IMHO, and only MHO, and nothing more than my HO... all items should have a gold amount attached to them. The big gauntlet arties: Gods Wrath, Knights Cloak, and Angel Legs should have a very high price tag such as 20-30 mil. Orny, AoF, Caster Brace, Essence of Spells, and other similar items should be a little lower in price. Then Gypsy Robe, HoM, Arkazza Hat, Mana Barrier, Travel Brac, etc would get a slightly lower price. And so on, and so on, and so on...
Most vets could use this to finish off a few needed items, then the gold would be gone. We would have to play to get the next item we needed.
Perhaps lower the random arty deed price, its just stupid right now, no one has probably EVER bought one. Especially factoring in all the tots, martys, lesser aoas and all the other crap you probably will get. No one is gonna buy those things for 15 mil. Maybe 1 mil, and lower the chance of the good stuff. At least a person can roulette the junk, so its a 1 mil roulette token. NO way in hell I am paying for a chance at a 15 mil Death Dealer...

Ya problem with those deeds is they really are "random arty". Think one of these days I'll rewrite them for specific lists so you can have "Random treasure of tokuno" or "Random AOA" kind of deal.dprantl wrote:I bought a random artie deed once. It was stupid, I know, but I was bored.

PERHAPS 15 mil for the random chance at one of the highly sought after arties, like a 1 in 5 chance or somn. But 15 mil for a chance at about 100 different arties where 90 are junk is not so appealing.

here is an idea... JUSTICE tokens. Eat 3 and you are knight of justice. I would love to have a handful of those sitting around. Everyone cheats on justice anyways, they just make reds on seperate accts and kill them. Why not turn that idea into a small gold sink.

hmmm that's not a half bad idea. Would be an expensive way of fast tracking virtues. The longer virtues would cost more gold.DOCTOR THUNDER wrote:here is an idea... JUSTICE tokens. just set it at a price just a little higher than most people would pay to maintain every week. Perhaps 50k for justice and some of the more useful virtues.

Well justice can be gained quickly in a very short amount of time as opposed to say, compassion which is a PAIN to gain.DOCTOR THUNDER wrote:just set it at a price just a little higher than most people would pay to maintain every week. Perhaps 50k for justice and some of the more useful virtues.

I would want to avoid making gold able to obtain stuff like virtue since it will really remove the whole idea of the virtue system. If someone gets avatar title they have to have actually earned it through virtues. (that title is not yet obtainable due to some missing virtues, but I want to fix that eventually)
Though I do agree we need to find something gold can be continuously used on, just not sure what. It has to be something that is not obtainable in other means.

very few people earn justice, at least on the characters they should have justice on. I had knight on spawner for a long time, but thats not who protects. Same thing with my red, he would be knight about 20x over. Everyone cheats on that virtue, so you guys might as well use that to your advantage.

Yeah but other virtues you do, justice is kinda abusable like that since its easy to fake. But others like honor can't really be abused. Only way is to actually do what it requires to gain in them.

Issue with virtue is half the shard can't use the benefits of them, because they're red. Sure, every red and his mother is a knight of justice, but what's the point if we can't use it?
Maybe, by donating to a shrine of virtue, it enables you to use that virtue even as a red. Maybe it would be called "atoning for your deeds" or something. I don't know, I'm crazy.

Actually maybe you can pay gold to an npc and you are forgiven your kills, like 500k per kill or something. So if a red wants to become blue again its better then waiting.

Ya, pay it at a shrine or something to be forgiven of your kills. Could also give gold to the gods and they'll bless you with a certain amount of luck or give you LMC/LRC or MR for 24 hours.Red Squirrel wrote:Actually maybe you can pay gold to an npc and you are forgiven your kills, like 500k per kill or something. LMC/LRC provided by the divine is not realistic. In the Ultima Online lore, the divine are not mentioned. Humans are meant to strive on their own via-arcane and martial powers.Seer Death wrote:Ya, pay it at a shrine or something to be forgiven of your kills. Now, bribing a town offical to "let a kill slide" wouldn't be hard to do. But, half a million per kill? Take that number down to 50k, and that'd be more realistic.
