Added some lights to the garage crawlspace so I don't need to drag a lamp in there when cleaning up spider webs. Some pics and details here:

Someone has too much free time on his hands.

Do the cold temperatures give your CFL bulbs any trouble?

Not sure, I kinda took the chance. If they burn out in less then a year then I'll know CFLs were a bad idea.

I just went to turn them on now and they seem fine. I really need to insulate that area though. Frost on indoor walls is usually not a good thing. Probably loosing lot of heat through there. My heat seems to max out at about 23C, I can't get the house higher then that if I tried, not that I'd want to go that high, but I did try it once just to see.

My parents use one on the porch. (I convinced them to replace all their incandescent bulbs.) It’s been there for about two years now. I don’t think cold weather actually reduces the lifespan, but it takes a few seconds longer than usual to get to full brightness whenever it’s cold. Of course, Tennessee cold is different from Canada cold.

I did notice they do take a bit longer to get to full power. When I first wired them I needed supplies to finish the job and the store was closed but I at least wanted to test the install, so I strip the end of the wire and put it into the socket. At first I thought it did not work, but then I saw the area getting brighter. The first time you turn on a bulb it seems to take longer too. I think they need a "Burn in" time.
