DUMBLEDORE IS GAY!
Okay, Dumbledore's gay. Now really, why is he gay, and in what way is he pictured as gay?? Really. It's a kid's book. I will never see Dumbledore the same way again. Oh well. pretty creepy!

what makes you say this? I've never read the books, but what did his character do in the book to make you think this?

Rowling: Potter's Dumbledore Gay
By AP/HILLEL ITALIE
(New York) — Harry Potter fans, the rumors are true: Albus Dumbledore, master wizard and Headmaster of Hogwarts, is gay. J.K. Rowling, author of the mega-selling fantasy series that ended last summer, outed the beloved character Friday night while appearing before a full house at Carnegie Hall.
After reading briefly from the final book, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," she took questions from audience members.
She was asked by one young fan whether Dumbledore finds "true love."
"Dumbledore is gay," the author responded to gasps and applause.
She then explained that Dumbledore was smitten with rival Gellert Grindelwald, whom he defeated long ago in a battle between good and bad wizards. "Falling in love can blind us to an extent," Rowling said of Dumbledore's feelings, adding that Dumbledore was "horribly, terribly let down."
Dumbledore's love, she observed, was his "great tragedy."
"Oh, my god," Rowling concluded with a laugh, "the fan fiction."
Potter readers on fan sites and elsewhere on the Internet have speculated on the sexuality of Dumbledore, noting that he has no close relationship with women and a mysterious, troubled past. And explicit scenes with Dumbledore already have appeared in fan fiction.
Rowling told the audience that while working on the planned sixth Potter film, "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," she spotted a reference in the script to a girl who once was of interest to Dumbledore. A note was duly passed to director David Yates, revealing the truth about her character.
Rowling, finishing a brief "Open Book Tour" of the United States, her first tour here since 2000, also said that she regarded her Potter books as a "prolonged argument for tolerance" and urged her fans to "question authority."
Not everyone likes her work, Rowling said, likely referring to Christian groups that have alleged the books promote witchcraft. Her news about Dumbledore, she said, will give them one more reason.

You'd think she'd keep quiet about that. She went through the entire series and never brought it up. The fundies are going to have a field day...

DUMBLEDORE IS GAY!
As part of my plan to woo the officials at Immigration-Québec, I actually bought a French (albeit European) edition of the first book—Harry Potter à l’école des sorciers—which is, to make things easier on myself, abridged.
I still can’t bring myself to open it.
Anyway, I wish I were there to see the fans’ reactions. It would be hilarious to see everyone gasp and faint. Realistically, though, I don’t see this having much of an impact on either gay rights or Rowling’s pocketbook. It’s easy to ignore, and people who would boycott the franchise probably already were.

Wait, it was never even mentioned in the books? So she's now decided to just throw stuff into the series that were never even hinted at in any of the 7 books? That's stupid. So, in my mind, Dumbledore would still be straight. I don't care if you're the author, don't just randomly throw stuff in when it's all said and done (or rather, written in this case).manadren wrote: You'd think she'd keep quiet about that. Never argue with an idiot. They will bring you down to their level and beat you with experience every time.
DUMBLEDORE IS GAY!
Apparently it was hinted at in the books (I got that from an article on CNN's site last week or so).

If Dumbledore is gay, then let me be struck with a large pulse of radiation that will modify my genes to be EXACTLY like the modifications given to the SPARTAN-II subjects, and then a Chozo Varia suit. With full upgrades. *repeats the word 'please' over and over in a small voice*
....
Guess not.

I really haven't read the books either, but from what I understand from the handful of articles covering the 'outing' there were no overt hints aside from the obvious lack of any mention of a female love interest. Though I'm sure there were a number of fans who had an inkling, and probably a bit of fan fiction in a yaoi vain. In the end though Dumbledore's love life was never really discussed and had no major baring on the plot. So it shouldn't really matter.

You never know when you're going to need to run around in water or wade through boiling lava...robonightmare wrote: If Dumbledore is gay, then let me be struck with a large pulse of radiation that will modify my genes to be EXACTLY like the modifications given to the SPARTAN-II subjects, and then a Chozo Varia suit.
