I would find examples of each language and see which one you like better. Unless you live near Québec, Spanish would probably be more of an asset. However, I don’t think one should choose a language solely by its usefulness. Maybe you will have time for both. That was the case with me.
Most people seem to think Spanish is easier than French. I think that is true at least initially. French spelling is very complicated, involving many silent letters and diacritics. Spanish, on the other hand, is much more predictable with its spelling. It’s not fun to wonder if that blank on your French test should have been “parler”, “parlé”, “parlais”, “parlait”, “parlez”, “parlée”, “parlées”, “parlaient”, or “parlai”. (They all sound like “par-LAY”.)
Spanish has four ways to say “you”, but French only has two. (EDIT: One of those four is only used in Spain, but I think most Spanish classes still teach it.) Spanish speakers frequently leave subject pronouns off, so verb conjugation is perhaps more important in Spanish. Spanish and French both have many irregular verbs, but it seems to me that Spanish has more conjugation irregularities.
French pronunciation seems harder for me overall, but rolling a Spanish “rr” is the hardest thing my tongue has ever tried to do. Unlike spelling, French pronunciation is actually pretty predictable. I mean, you can sound out a word from text with a good chance of pronouncing it correctly. However, I do believe it lacks as much predictability as Spanish.
Which do I prefer? I greatly prefer French. I love how it looks and sounds. I’m in Spanish II, but I still study French more. Mind you, I have friends who have taken both but greatly prefer Spanish.
I hope I was helpful! I’m not very far in Spanish yet, so I can’t offer a deeper comparison.

I told Clueless that French sounds more romantic than Spanish. Even the sentence "Where is the bathroom?" would sound romantic in French.

Hehe… The phrase “Où sont les toilettes?” is something I’ve never felt comfortable saying.Bookworm wrote: I told Clueless that French sounds more romantic than Spanish. Even the sentence "Where is the bathroom?" would sound romantic in French.
Behold the power of French:

The soup of the day: $2.45

La soupe du jour: $5.00

You just can’t do that with Spanish.

I thought “I would love you” is “je t’aimerais”.Red Squirrel wrote: Je t'aimes? Now you remember.

Taking French will make Spanish easier if you ever wish to learn it later. (The same goes for Italian, Portuguese, or anything else in that language family.) Saying “I have hunger” instead of “I am hungry” doesn’t seem so silly the second time around, and you will have long ago accepted that your chair has a gender.
I hope you like French! Which language is more popular at your school?

A Romance (or Romantic) language is a language that came from Latin. Those would be French, Spanish, and Italian.

1. The spirit of a dead person, especially one believed to appear in bodily likeness to living persons or to haunt former habitats.
2. The center of spiritual life; the soul.
3. A demon or spirit.
4. A returning or haunting memory or image.
5.
1. A slight or faint trace: just a ghost of a smile.
2. The tiniest bit: not a ghost of a chance.
6. A faint, false image, as:
1. A secondary image on a television or radar screen caused by reflected waves.
2. A displaced image in a photograph caused by the optical system of the camera.
3. A false spectral line caused by imperfections in the diffraction grating.
4. A displaced image in a mirror caused by reflection from the front of the glass.
7. Informal. A ghostwriter.
8.
