I don't know anything about electricity, but your situation sounds shocking.

Extra watts won't cause anything to blow, if anything, in your case it was lack of, that blew the transformer. Watts is the capacity of the transformer. Any electrical device draws a certain amount of watts from it's source. Microwaves tend to draw quite a lot, TVs enough, but not a huge amount. though I think in your case the micro and TV was too much for the transformer to handle, so you blew the transformer. As long as the voltages match, you can't/should not blow the equipment. Ex: most appliances run on 120 volts, so as long as you feed it ~120 your ok, if you feed it 240, then you're looking for trouble. but wether you plug it in a 15 amp/120V outlet (1800watt capacity) or a 30amp/120volt(3600watt capacity) outlet, it does not matter.
Just make sure that the wattage rating of an appliance is less then the wattage output of a power source. Think of it as money, every time you plug in a device into the source, it needs to borry a certain amount of money.

But have you tried connecting something else in the transformer? I would at least test it to make sure it really is that. You never know with electricity sometimes... lol

He's good at that. Even when he doesn't know what he's talking about, he can make it sound like he knows what he's talking about.aplc4miead wrote: you sound like you know what your talking about.
