okay, this is a semi-interesting article with very few morsels of actual information, however, the very last line got me.

seems pretty plausible to me, and it sounds like some people are thinking ahead.

the point of this topic, is to discuss the future of biological science. for instance, do you think that in 20 years we'll be replacing eyeballs rather than getting laser correction surgery? thinking about it is as much of a mindfuck as anything.

Yes, forward thinking is essential for these sorts of things.

I think eyeball transplants are probably in the 20-30 year time frame, but as for correcting vision, I imagine less invasive methods centered more around re-shaping the eyeball than a complete replacement.

I imagine that in the same period, nerve regeneration will allow people with massive back trauma to regain at least some use of affected limbs and regions.

I think that possibly as early as 10 years from now, we'll see some real controversies over human cloning.
